The Falls

A few years ago, actually… more like 15 years ago (ugh!) my friend Peggi and I went out for a drive and were looking for some nice places to take pics. We drove about 15 minutes away from home and found these really nice waterfalls tucked in off an old dirt road. If we weren’t looking for a spot we probably would have missed it. There was a pool at the bottom of the falls and we went for a swim. It was FREEZING but so beautiful surrounded by all the rocks and trees. Last week I asked my dad to drive us out there to see if I could find those waterfalls again to get some pics. After driving down that dirt road for a while I was starting to think we wouldn’t find it, but we did… and I took a lot of pics. It was also a good chance to try out some of the soft water best shot settings on the new camera. Here are some pics.

This is what you see from the road (in case you are in Cape Breton and are looking for it, the road is New Campbelton road at the bottom of Kelly’s Mountain).

I got some photos closer up, It was pretty hellish trying to climb into the spot I took them from but it was worth it.

I took these while messing around with the best shot settings, it’s meant to make the water look soft and flowy. I think it works pretty well.

Tonight we are supposed to be getting together with a group of people I went to high school with, but I’m not sure how many will make it because it seems we have some nasty weather on the way. The news has been reporting that we are going to get the end of Hurricane Noah and that we will be getting 4 inches of rain and winds up to 140 km this evening. They are also warning people to stock up and make sure they have food and flashlights because it’s possible that the power may be out for a few days. ARGH! I come to Canada and get a cold and a hurricane, wtf?!

We aren’t really expecting as much of Noah as you guys, but I figure we will be stuck in for the night and possible for tomorrow. Lazy Sunday for sure. Hope you have a good time for the rest of your vacation.
