Mars vs Venus

I saw this on a forum I frequent and thought it was totally blog-worthy.

I never quite figured out why the sexual urge of men
and women differ so much. And I never have figured out the whole
Venus and Mars thing. I have never figured out why men
think with their heads and women with their hearts.

FOR EXAMPLE
One evening last week, my girlfriend and I were getting into bed.
Well, the passion starts to heat up, and she eventually says “I don’t feel like it, I just want you to hold me.”
I said “WHAT????!!! What was that?!”
So she says the words that every boyfriend on the
planet dreads to hear…
“You’re just not in touch with my emotional needs as a woman enough for me to satisfy your physical needs as a man.”
She responded to my puzzled look by saying, “Can’t you just love me for who I am and not what I do for you in the bedroom?”
Realizing that nothing was going to happen that night, I went to sleep.
The very next day I opted to take the day off of work to spend time with her.
We went out to a nice lunch and then went shopping at a big, big unnamed department store.
I walked around with herwhile she tried on several different very expensive outfits. She couldn’t decide which one to take so I told herwe’ll just buy them all.
She wanted new shoes to compliment her newclothes, so I said lets get a pair for each outfit. We went onto the jewellery department where she picked out a pair of diamond earrings.
Let me tell you … she was so excited. She must havethought I was one wave short of a shipwreck. I started to think she was testing me because she asked for a tennis bracelet when she doesn’t even know how to play tennis.
I think I threw her for a loop when I said, “That’s fine, honey.”
She was almost nearing sexual satisfaction from all of the excitement. Smiling with excited anticipation she finally said, “I think this is all dear, let’s go to the cashier.”
I could hardly contain myself when I blurted out, “No, honey, I don’t feel like it.”
Her face just went completely blank as her jaw dropped with a baffled “WHAT???!!!”
I then said, “Really honey! I just want you to HOLD this stuff for a while. You’re just not in touch with my financial needs as a man enough for me to satisfy your shopping needs as a woman.”
And just when she had this look like she was going to kill me, I added, “Why can’t you just love me for who I am and not for the things I buy you?”
Apparently I’m not having sex tonight either.

heheteehehehe

So Tuesday I got the results back from my exams for Niveau 2 of NT2 (Level 2 of Nederlands als een Tweede Taal – Dutch as a Second Language). As I wrote in previous blogs I was sort of nervous because I hadn’t been attending quite as much as I should, I was sure I didn’t get any score at all on spreken (speaking) and that made me nervous about whether I’d move on into Niveau 3 or not.

As you can see, I didn’t do nearly as bad as I thought. In fact, I passed with flying colors! I was pretty shocked when I saw the results, especially in spreken. I was so sure that it had gone terribly wrong, I have no idea where I scraped up those 27 points. I would have liked to have had 30+ on that section but considering I thought I wasn’t going to get any points at all, I’ll happily take the ones I got an run with them.

So now I move on to Niveau 3, which is a bit different than Niveau 2 because now we have Maatschaporientatie and Loopbaanorientatie. I think I spelled those right. What they are is two new sections of the course, maatschaporientatie being the part where we learn more about the country, it’s culture, the history and all that junk. Loopbaanorientatie is the one where we discuss what we want to do here for work/school, how we go about finding the job or training we need, etc. Should be interesting, considering I don’t have the first fucking clue what I want to do. I think I will be doing a lot of shrugging in that one.

Oh yeah, for those who don’t know:
Lezen = Reading
Schrijven = Writing
Luisteren = Listening
Spreken = Speaking

  1. Hey silentcoder/AJ, I think you’re referring to Foster/Tanya!

  2. Congrats on those tests, very well done hun.

    Oh and Gail. Sometimes they are ;)

  3. Congrats on the tests hun.

    Oh and Gail – sometimes they are ;)

  4. Congrats on the scores!! Well Done!!

    Loved the story of the guy and his g/f. It would nice if male and female sex drives were in sync, but they rarely are.

  5. “… then you spend all day talking about culture, history, and all that junk….”

    Which reminds me, are you learning formal Dutch, or is there a separate component of conversational Dutch? (Slang Dutch?)

  6. Congrats – those are great scores on those tests. Almost the max in everything but speaking, the hardest one!

    I think you should get a job as a museum curator; then you spend all day talking about culture, history, and all that junk. :P
