Eww Bugs!

Dutch weather, they say if you don’t like it just wait five minutes and it will change. They are so right.

Spencer Basking on the Balcony

Today was hot. Not really hot as in 40 degrees hot but more like mid-high 20’s and so fucking humid. It’s been like that the last few days. It’s like you can’t tell if you’re sweating or if the air is just sticking to you. It’s gross! Anyway today we decided to do some deep cleaning in the house (Xander’s always faster at it than me and seems to get more done, I hate that..) and it was so beautiful outside. Spencer decided to lounge around on the balcony and catch a few rays.

Storm Brewing

We decided to BBQ dinner (Ribs. MmmMm!) and had the BBQ all set up and ready to go. Then we noticed it starting to get dark and we knew what that meant. It means we better get those ribs cooked and FAST because chances were the sky was about to open up on us. We watched the clouds for a while and man, they were moving SO fast! I couldn’t believe it. There wasn’t a breath of wind to be found, yet the clouds were moving at like, superspeed. We just got the food cooked and suddenly it got really windy and started to rain like a mofo. The smoke from the bbq (because the rain was hitting it and wind was blowing) was going straight in the kitchen door and filling the house. Xander ended up pouring a bucket of water over it. Which made for a nice mess on the balcony.

Sneaky Grasshopper

So as you all know I got a new washer, and I have been up to my eyeballs in laundry. So today when it was really nice out I decided to hang the laundry outside rather than puting it in the dryer. So clever I was, saving power and stopping the house from getting more hot than it already was. Such a smart little housewife I am! Ok, I lie. I smart housewife would know to shake the clothes out before she takes them inside. Then she wouldn’t look over and see critters like this perched happily on top of the laundry she was about to fold. I managed to get close enough to take a pic, seeing as I love taking pics of everything. Then there was much screaming at Xander to “GET THAT FUCKING THING OUT OF THE HOUSE!!!”. I was ok until it moved while I was trying to take the pic. Xander says I shouldn’t be afraid because they don’t bite, what the hell kind of logic is that?! My shit doesn’t bite either but I don’t see him picking THAT up!

Last night I had a really awesome time. There’s this girl I met a few months ago who also moved here from Canada (in October). She and I hung out one day and kept missing each other anytime we had plans after that. She volunteered to watch Bailey while we were in Canada and then cancelled at the last minute causing me to go completely and utterly apeshit. Luckily we had some friends who needed a place to stay so we let them housesit. Anyway, she and I have started mailing again so we decided to get together last night and do something. We went to see Spiderman 2 which I thought was awesome. It was every bit as good as the first one or better! I’d say what I liked about it but I don’t want to give spoilers. It’s definately worth going to see though. After that we went to Pizza Hut and got some pizza, sat and chatted etc. It felt SO good to just go out for a “Girls Night”!! Ok so we didn’t go paint the town red or party, but it was still great just to spend time with another female. I have so few friends here, especially girlfriends. I have really really missed that. It felt weird leaving Xander home, I mean I’m used to us being stuck to each other and doing everything together. It was kind of nice at the same time though, as I’m sure it was nice for him to have the house to himself for a while. He got to eat KFC and ice cream and pigged out without worrying about eating yummy stuff in front of me. hehe

That reminds me.. I gained 4 lbs back while I had my cold and I didn’t even eat a lot! I just wasn’t exercising. Feh! Anyway I’ve lost 2 lbs of it again so I’m at a total of 12 lbs lost rather than 14 lbs. DAMN COLD!!! Curses Curses…
