Lucky Shoplifter

My brother in law mailed me this video and told me I absolutely MUST put it on my blog!   I have to agree with him, it’s hilarious and doesn’t really surprise me at all, it’s the Dutch humor.

I know the video is all in Dutch but basically it’s at a store called Hema (which is sort of K-Mart or Zellers-like) and they were so sick of people shoplifting that when the 10,000th shoplifter showed up they chased her down and celebrated.

Obviously, she wasn’t too keen on the party but who can blame her.   If I was shoplifting and suddenly had all those people swarming around me I’d be freaking out too.   Although, I am pretty sure I’d get into it once they brought in the cake.

The sign in the end says that in the event of shoplifting they will ALMOST (hand written onto the sign) always get the police involved.

In true Dutch fashion, if they can’t prevent something … they make the best of it!

Thanks Merijn!  This is a great one!

Edit: Bro-in-law found a version with subtitles so now everyone can understand it!

I love that video. The look on her face says it all! Your explanation of how the Dutch have handled it is interesting. If you can’t beat’em, join’em.

Thanks for the Canadian/Hema explanation. When I was in Jurbise in Belgium I was in one of their stores and loved some of their things. I couldn’t find out much about it when I came home, though.
