Cantobre

The village of Cantobre was an unexpected find on our journey with Xander’s mother last week.   As we were driving along I saw something up on a hill and as we turned the bend, this is what we found.

Cantobre

The entire village of about 30 houses was perched up on top of these cliffs.  It was much higher than it looks in the photo.  While we were walking through the village we met a British lady who lives part of the year in the UK and part in Cantobre where she and her family own one of the houses.

One by one the houses are being sold and renovated, so if you have a few hundred thousand euros laying around and are looking for a place to get away, this place may be for you.

It’s hard to really capture how beautiful a place like this is.  The view from the top is no less spectacular.

I’m enjoying looking at all your posts and photos about your sightseeing little roadtrips around France. Too bad for that sunburn of yours though! :-)

The whole time I was in Europe (a whole eleven days!) I was amazed at all of the “unexpected finds” like you’re posting. You just don’t see things like these in Prince Edward Island, or Cape Breton for that matter. Glad you had a good trip.

  7. wow, that is awesome. It’s like something you only see in movies. and you’re right you can’t capture that on picture. I bet it was just awesome.
