Random Updates

It’s random update day. I’ve decided to have these every so often so that I can get out loads of little things that I can’t be arsed writing entire blogs about.

  • My horoscope for today was interesting considering all the things going on lately with my school:

You should be doing something about your position or the direction you are headed. Now is the time to get back on track. If you aren’t happy where you are, it’s time to consider alternatives.

  • Today I finally tracked down my mentor and spoke to her about the class. She didn’t have a whole lot of time and had no idea what I was talking about so it was clear the director lady hadn’t spoken to her yet. When I quickly explained what had gone down she informed me that the class I was hoping to get into was quite a bit further ahead than I had initially thought. She said she’d speak to the director and get back to me, so I’m hoping something will come of it. If I have to stay with my current group I want to at least get out of the career training. It’s just not necessary and is time I could spend doing other things.. like writing blogs.
  • I have officially gained back every single pound I lost last spring. This sucks.. Now I have to start from the beginning again.
  • I finally went to the doctor about my ankle, which is still giving me trouble. She said that I tore ligaments in it and she’s surprised I was walking around on it from the start. I have to start physiotherapy to try to speed up the healing process, otherwise I’m looking at about a year of this discomfort. Not good if I want to get back to walking to try to lose this weight again.
  • While I was there she also gave a reference letter for another infertility specialist for a secnd opinion. She was surprised to hear that the other one was such a downer last time, as apparently many people find him very sympathetic and kind.. which he was previously with us as well. I’m starting to think perhaps we caught him on an off day.
  • Tiny Tim is still alive and kicking! He’s still drinking from the eyedropper and his feet are healing nicely. I’d say something optimistic but I don’t want to jinx it.
  • Net5 is currently showing Grace Under Fire (1993-1998) reruns for what must be the 15th time since I moved to the Netherlands. When I groaned and flicked the channel Days of Our Lives (1965 – ?) was on. A show I used to watch a lot when I was in high school.. it would appear the kids who were born on the show when I watched it 10 years ago are now 20 years older. I guess time flies even faster on soap operas…
  • The soap opera talk just made me think of Another World (1964-1999). The only soap opera that was ever worth watching faithfully.
  • Xander rocks.. as always.

  1. My favorites were Jake and Vicky. I loved the whole romance with Vicky and Ryan, god that was great!! I can’t believe that show is cancelled and garbage like Days of Our Lives still goes on.

  2. I had the biggest crush on Jake, which, when I look back now, seems like a bit of a sketchy choice!

  3. OMG, are you kidding? My mother LOVED ‘Another World’. In fact, in pre-VCR days whenever she was working and I wasn’t in school, she would make me watch it and give her a report when she came home!

  4. ANOTHER WORLD ROCKED!!!! Oh my gawd, aside from my grandmother, I didn’t think that anyone else liked it. I knew you were cool for a reason. :)

When I lived in Quebec, I would get it taped and sent to me so that we could watch it in Engish. It was at the height of the Frankie/Cass trauma, just before she died. I was heartbroken. Truly.
