WHY Am I Not Surprised?

Today Xander and I got up at 7am to wait for the guys to come and assemble our kitchen.  They were originally scheduled to do it yesterday but it was a holiday here yesterday so we agreed to today.  This was confirmed with the shop we bought the kitchen from TWICE and also on the phone once when they called to set up the delivery for Monday.

We waited… and we waited… and we waited.  By 10am we were wondering where they were and phoned the shop.   They said he usually starts quite early and should be around soon.  At 11am we phone again and they tell us they can’t get a hold of him.

A while later he phones us back and says he had planned to come on Monday.  He said he sent us a letter, which we never got.  Xander is after taking off two days (Monday and today) to be here to help deal with any issues that might come up and now it looks like he’ll have to take off another.   Not only that but we have NO kitchen now.  We have only a microwave to cook in and after a week of eating out or only simple make at home meals… we’re SO ready for a kitchen again.  We don’t want to order out or go out to eat all weekend, firstly because restaurants here suck and secondly because it gets expensive!  Plus, we get sick of fast food really quickly and anything else is too expensive to eat on a regular basis.  I guess we could eat ham and cheese sandwiches for every meal but bleeeh.

The bottom line is we had an appointment to get this done and after spending thousands of euros on this kitchen we kind of expect them to show up and put it together when they said they would.

We went over to the shop and they said they are going to try to sort something.  I dunno if it’s getting the guy to come tomorrow or something but it’s so hard for me to just sit and wait without knowing.  Even after living here for eight years I still can’t stomach this lack of customer service and how there is NOTHING done to rectify situations like this.   If this was Canada I’d have like a free DVD player to stick under my counter or something, just to shut me up and keep me happy.

This isn’t Canada though, this is the land of non-existant customer service and now…. we wait.   This is definitely one of those ‘THIS FUCKING COUNTRY’ days.  Bleh.

  1. So sorry. I had this when I bought my kitchen and I just had it from the car dealer too. If you want you can come eat at our house sometime this weekend. I’ll cook you home-cooked food :0

  2. Soooo sorry…. to hear this Tammy…. but it is just such a familiar thing to happen around here… … and i do not know why but people seem to just put up with it …
I guess if those companies would get sued more often here, this shit would not happen all the time.
Costumer Service does NOT exist in country. And I am sure you will not even get a SORRY from these guys…

Mind you, i will say that we always had good service from the little guys, like your neighbourhood plumber.

    Best of luck for Monday!

    Simone
