Diergaarde Blijdorp June 2010

As promised back when I shared the story about the Cheeky Pelican, I have finally finished working on the rest of my zoo photos from my recent visit to Blijdorp Zoo.  As usual, where me and my camera are involved, there are a ton of photos.  I’ll try to keep it just to my favorites, but if you want to see the rest you can visit my Flickr set or here for a slideshow.  Most of you probably already saw them either on Flickr or Facebook, but I’m going to share them here as well, if for no other reason than to not have Facebook be the end of blogging for me.

So, here goes…

I’m hoping that when the weather clears up that my friends and I will be able to reschedule our plans to visit Burgers’ Zoo in Arnhem, as we had to cancel our plans to go a few weeks ago due to the weather.  I’m really quite keen to visit more of the other zoos in the Netherlands though, I love Blijdorp but I’m getting the been there, done that feeling about it now.

Oh, wait I almost forgot.  I have more photos to show you.  They are gross but funny at the same time, and you know I can never stop myself from sharing gross and disgusting stuff!

I’m sorry, I couldn’t hold it any longer, please don’t look… oh god I’m so embarrassed! A little privacy please?!

Blijdorp Zoo
Aw man, why is there never any toilet paper in this joint??

I didn’t even realize (s)he was doing this until I got home and was editing the photos. I thought I just caught him/her walking away.  I laughed my ass off when I saw what was actually going on, and I just had to share.

You’re welcome.

  1. We need a good camera. These photos are great. I love the lazy looking lion hugging what looks like his favourite tree.

  2. Great photos, as usual! I’m jealous of your skills :)

Beautiful, natural photos! They all look as if they were taken in the wild—nice shots.

  4. Tammy, These are some great shots! Love the clarity.

  5. I just love love LOVE these shots!! the cloe up detail is amazing and Im so loving the last ones the most! lol The look on his/her face is priceless alone without the hilarious extra part..lol

  6. Beautiful photos! I particularly like the giraffe eyelash shot and the one of the lion on the tree branch. The monkey ones at the end are just hilarious. At least there was no poo flinging! (I think you’ve had enough experience with poo via the awful neighbors.)

    • haha he was actually quite far away so he’d have to have a good arm to reach us. We were behind glass wall anyway so I think we were safe! I think they are hilarious! and yes, definitely had enough of other people’s poo for a very very long time!
