Almost… ALLLLMOOOSST… butnotquite.

The little auction that couldn’t almost did tonight.

I finally got my Ebay registration sorted and spent a ridiculous amount of time typing up the account details and making the auction page look good. After a few hours it was ready… and I submitted it!

I listed my WoW account with a minimum bid of $600 and within 15 minutes I had a message through Ebay asking how much I’d take for a buyout! Whoo hoo!

Five minutes after that I got an email from Ebay letting me know that my account has been suspended.

Bloody typical…

(Apparently I’ve done something against their rules. Not selling the account, because hundreds of others are doing it. I’ve mailed them and am waiting to find out what the hell I did wrong)

The only thing that bugs me more than having my account suspended is having to wait for 24-48 hours to find out why.

  1. Did they give a reason as to why it was suspended? I got VERO’d a while back and it took 2 weeks or so to get it settled.

VERO is the Verified Electronic Rights Owner program (or something like that) that allows rights holders to get an auction cancelled. It’s my understanding that it takes just about no effort to get someone’s auction cancelled and eBay leaves it up to you to resolve it with the person who complained.

In my particular case, the reason they gave was VERO but it was apparently because I didn’t clearly state in the auction that I had the rights to sell what I was selling. (A parody that I wrote)… While I love eBay, their support can be about worthless and they seem to only enforce some of the more petty and vague rules if another eBayer tattles on you.

Good Luck getting it fixed up.

  2. Ok…for someone considering doing the WoW thing–what makes an account on WoW worth so much money?

  3. eBay suck for that. I had two people try to rip me off when I was selling something. The first had their account cancelled before I even told them to piss off (they were asking me to ship a mobile phone to Nigeria), but it still took 2 weeks before I could relist for free.

Then the relist was hijacked by *another* asshole who wanted me to ship it to his girlfriend in Italy when the advert clearly stated I would only ship in the UK.

eBay will only let you resubmit an advert Free Of Charge *once* even when it’s some other bastard’s fault that you’re having to relist. Wankers.

  4. I totally understand. It’s not too bad, it’s just learning the PHP functions. But it’s still a bitch for someone even in a rational state of mind! (and I never really am)
Why is it that anything involving WP is such a pain?? For me, anyway… WYSIWYG really does hate me, do you ever have any problems with it?

  5. AMM – Hehe, it confused me a bit, too. Where is your email? I shall help you, but too much to explain from a comment. :D

  6. The waiting is always the worst. I’ve never been able to get over waiting for anything. I’m so impatient.

support people must truly hate me.
