{"id":9033,"date":"2011-09-05T23:34:53","date_gmt":"2011-09-05T21:34:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gettingirlie.com\/?p=443"},"modified":"2014-02-14T22:09:42","modified_gmt":"2014-02-14T21:09:42","slug":"first-dry-marble-attempt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.canadutch.nl\/blog\/archives\/9033","title":{"rendered":"First Dry Marble Attempt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After seeing people talking about it everywhere, I really wanted to try the dry marble method on my nails.\u00a0 If you aren\u2019t familiar with how it works, <a href=\"http:\/\/enamelgirl.blogspot.com\/2011\/08\/dry-water-marble-tutorial.html\" target=\"_blank\">here\u2019s a tutorial<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Looks easy, right?\u00a0 Omg, it\u2019s so not!!\u00a0 Well, it is\u2026 but it isn\u2019t.\u00a0 What I mean is, it wasn\u2019t as easy as I thought it was going to be, and it took me ages!\u00a0 When I compare it to my water marble experience, it wasn\u2019t so much easier that I decided to never try a water marble again.\u00a0\u00a0 When I did the water marble, I didn\u2019t use bottled water, which was my first mistake.\u00a0 I also used a container that was too wide so the polish spread out too much too quickly.\u00a0 I wasn\u2019t really prepared so I ended up using a lot more polish than I planned to.<\/p>\n<p>The thing is, I had the exact same problem with this method.\u00a0 I kept not getting the effect I wanted so it lead to me doing more and more patches.\u00a0 Once again I used almost an entire bottle of the different colors just trying to get it to work, and even still I wasn\u2019t totally happy with the results.\u00a0\u00a0 Ok I\u2019m always fussy about how things turned out but when I use a crapload of polish on one design, I really want it to knock my socks off!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.breigh.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/drymarble1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12969\" alt=\"drymarble\" src=\"http:\/\/www.breigh.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/drymarble1.jpg\" width=\"610\" height=\"402\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.canadutch.nl\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/drymarble1.jpg 610w, https:\/\/www.canadutch.nl\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/drymarble1-300x198.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.canadutch.nl\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/drymarble1-600x395.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.canadutch.nl\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/drymarble1-310x205.jpg 310w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I think there are a few things I would do differently the next time.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I would let the base polish dry a little more next time as I kept ending up with the problem where the marbled polish would get wet or smudge through when I was trying to press it on.<\/li>\n<li>I wouldn\u2019t press and rub at it as much because it ended up smudging pretty badly in some places even though the polish was dry.<\/li>\n<li>I would take it easy with the toothpick during the marbling process because some bits were way too mixed and smushed together.<\/li>\n<li>I would wait until the polish and the marbled pieces have dried together before trying to cut around the edges.\u00a0 Again, too much poking around with the polish underneath lead to disaster in some areas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If I\u2019m honest, I think I preferred the water marble.
