When Noah<\/a> was two years old I started a blanket for him for Christmas. I really enjoyed making it but then like with a lot of projects I came to a part of the construction that was annoying and tedious and I put it away.\u00a0 He turned four this weekend and for the last 1.5 years I\u2019ve said \u201cI really should finish that blanket\u201d at every Christmas, Birthday, Easter and other occasion that went by.<\/p>\n

The time has gone by so fast, I can\u2019t imagine what it must be like for Penny<\/a>!<\/p>\n

Knowing that he was turning four, I realized that I was running out of time for this blanket to still be at least somewhat age appropriate.\u00a0 He\u2019s out of his big coloring stage (which lead to me finding this pattern in the first place) but he is still young enough to enjoy the colors and that it\u2019s crayons.<\/p>\n

It was still a pain in the butt to complete.\u00a0 I loved everything about this project until it came time to do the lettering.\u00a0 I honestly wasn\u2019t sure I was going to have any hair left by the end and some of the lettering went on quite wonky, but there was no way I was doing it over again.<\/p>\n

I will probably make this blanket again but with some experimentation on making the lettering easier.\u00a0 The way the pattern calls for it to be done is to follow a pattern of crocheting the letters, which end up looking like little sticks and you bend them into the shape and then hand sew them to the blanket.\u00a0\u00a0 Next time I think I would try to embroider the letters by crocheting it directly onto the blanket, or use fabric glue to get the letters in place before sewing them.<\/p>\n

In the end, seeing this made it all worth all the hard work.\u00a0 The poor little dude came down with the flu and started puking his guts up halfway through his party (I am trying really hard not to think about all the slimey kisses I got from him yesterday!).\u00a0 I later saw this photo on his mom\u2019s Instagram and thought it was so sweet.\u00a0 I love that blanket, wonky letters and all!\u00a0 I’m so glad that he and his mom both like it too!<\/p>\n
