{"id":687,"date":"2007-07-18T11:21:04","date_gmt":"2007-07-18T09:21:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.breigh.com\/wordpress\/archives\/687"},"modified":"2007-07-18T11:21:06","modified_gmt":"2007-07-18T09:21:06","slug":"hij-is-weg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.canadutch.nl\/blog\/archives\/687","title":{"rendered":"Hij is Weg!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>That means&#8230; HE&#8217;S GONE!!<\/p>\n<p>He being my asshole neighbour&nbsp;who <a href=\"http:\/\/www.breigh.com\/wordpress\/archives\/668http:\/\/www.breigh.com\/wordpress\/archives\/668\" target=\"_blank\">left his junk everywhere<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;was always <a href=\"http:\/\/www.breigh.com\/wordpress\/archives\/670\" target=\"_blank\">noisy<\/a>&#8230; among other things.&nbsp;&nbsp;He had two weeks to pay up his unpaid rent or he was going to be kicked out, and he left before they had the chance.&nbsp; Over the weekend he and his friends packed everything into his van and he&#8217;s gone.&nbsp; Gone away&#8230;forever&#8230; whoo hooo!<\/p>\n<p>There was one surprise though&#8230; <\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Photo Sharing\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/breigh\/820650632\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"369\" alt=\"My Neighbour's Crap\" src=\"http:\/\/farm2.static.flickr.com\/1235\/820650632_6d3bf70e45.jpg\" width=\"480\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>He took out all the junk everyone has been complaining about.&nbsp; Yeah, can you believe he had all that sitting at the bottom of our stairwell?&nbsp; No wonder we were all so ticked off!&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>I have to admit I was shocked when I saw him removing it.&nbsp;&nbsp; I find it hard to believe that he did it on his own though.&nbsp; I figure the rental company threatened to take more money from him if he didn&#8217;t clean it up.&nbsp; As it is they are going to take money from his account each month to make up what he hasn&#8217;t paid them.&nbsp;&nbsp; That&#8217;s what happens when you don&#8217;t pay your rent!<\/p>\n<p>Once the other neighbours saw that he had put his &#8216;big garbage&#8217; out, they did as well.&nbsp; Here in NL we have something called Grofvuil which is who you call when you have garbage that is too big for the bin and needs to be collected specially.&nbsp; They tell you what day they will be in the neighbourhood and you put all your large items out on that day.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>Usually once one neighbour sees that someone has their big junk out, they take the opportunity to get rid of theirs, since they are coming anyway.<\/p>\n<p>There are also scavengers who know when the Grofvuil will be where and they go around picking through it looking for anything they can take to use or resell.&nbsp;&nbsp;Below is a photo I took of two of the regular scavengers going through another neighbour&#8217;s junk:<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Photo Sharing\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/breigh\/824731737\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"500\" alt=\"Scavengers\" src=\"http:\/\/farm2.static.flickr.com\/1160\/824731737_bd0644f9f7.jpg\" width=\"462\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>You really have to wonder if these people actually make anything off of the junk they pick up&#8230; but there are sometimes things that are quite valuable that get tossed simply because people have no use for them anymore.<\/p>\n<p>I guess I&#8217;m no better than them though, since that&#8217;s how I found my exercise bike.&nbsp; I saw it sitting on the sidewalk and I scuffled my way into our building dragging it along then put it in the basement until Xander could help me get it upstairs.&nbsp; Works perfectly! <\/p>\n<p>One man&#8217;s junk is another man&#8217;s treasure! <\/p>\n<p>Of course, the bike is now MY junk&#8230; sitting unused in my spare room.&nbsp; I&#8217;m going to dig it out and start using it again though, uhh&#8230; I swear! <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>That means&#8230; HE&#8217;S GONE!!
