{"id":6736,"date":"2011-07-28T14:53:15","date_gmt":"2011-07-28T10:53:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.breigh.com\/wordpress\/archives\/6736"},"modified":"2011-09-04T10:13:43","modified_gmt":"2011-09-04T08:13:43","slug":"petting-giraffes-at-dierenpark-amersfoort-awesome","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.canadutch.nl\/blog\/archives\/6736","title":{"rendered":"Petting Giraffes at Dierenpark Amersfoort = AWESOME!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m baaaack!\u00a0 Actually I\u2019ve been back for almost two weeks, but I\u2019ve either been busy, didn\u2019t feel like writing or was having issues with my host.\u00a0 Anyway, I\u2019m here now and that\u2019s what counts.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, I don\u2019t have any photos of the our time in France yet because I made a deal with myself that I\u2019d catch up on all the photos from other adventures before I even started them. Argh, it hurts!\u00a0 I\u2019m so itching to share all of the cool places we saw and things we did!<\/p>\n<p>The first set of photos I promised that I\u2019d work on were from my trip to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dierenparkamersfoort.nl\/\" target=\"_blank\">Dierenpark Amersfoort<\/a> back in June.\u00a0 A friend of mine had split up with her boyfriend and was returning to the US, so she wanted to get together and do something really cool together before she left us.\u00a0 She has a friend who works at the Zoo in Amersfoort and said that she\u2019d mentioned she could take her behind the scenes to pet and feed giraffes and was wondering if we\u2019d be interested in doing that.<\/p>\n<p>HELL YEAH I was interested!<\/p>\n<p>So one day three of us got together with the girl who worked at the zoo and had the most awesome day.\u00a0 Not only did she take us \u2018backstage\u2019 to see the giraffes, but she also spent the entire day with us showing us around the zoo and giving us info on all the different animals.\u00a0 It was fantastic!!<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s the photos!<\/p>\n<div id=\"PictoBrowser110728124627\">Get the flash player here: http:\/\/www.adobe.com\/flashplayer<\/div>\n<div>You can also view the photos <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/breigh\/sets\/72157626921511024\/with\/5981349174\/\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a> on the Flickr set.<\/div>\n<p><script src=\"http:\/\/www.db798.com\/pictobrowser\/swfobject.js\" type=\"text\/javascript\"><\/script><script type=\"text\/javascript\">\/\/ <![CDATA[\n var so = new SWFObject(\"http:\/\/www.db798.com\/pictobrowser.swf\", \"PictoBrowser\", \"580\", \"500\", \"8\", \"#EEEEEE\"); so.addVariable(\"source\", \"sets\"); so.addVariable(\"names\", \"Dierenpark Amersfoort\"); so.addVariable(\"userName\", \"Breigh.com\"); so.addVariable(\"userId\", \"36166632@N00\"); so.addVariable(\"ids\", \"72157626921511024\"); so.addVariable(\"titles\", \"on\"); so.addVariable(\"displayNotes\", \"on\"); so.addVariable(\"thumbAutoHide\", \"off\"); so.addVariable(\"imageSize\", \"medium\"); so.addVariable(\"vAlign\", \"mid\"); so.addVariable(\"vertOffset\", \"0\"); so.addVariable(\"colorHexVar\", \"EEEEEE\"); so.addVariable(\"initialScale\", \"off\"); so.addVariable(\"bgAlpha\", \"90\"); so.write(\"PictoBrowser110728124627\");\n\/\/ ]]><\/script><\/p>\n<p>We had such an amazing day that day.\u00a0 It really was so much fun and such a nice way to say goodbye to a good friend.<br \/>\nIf you are interested in visiting zoos in the Netherlands, I recommend this zoo wholeheartedly.\u00a0 I\u2019ve been to three zoos here in the Netherlands (this one, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.breigh.com\/wordpress\/archives\/tag\/blijdorp-zoo\" target=\"_blank\">Blijdorp<\/a> in Rotterdam and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.breigh.com\/wordpress\/archives\/tag\/burgers-zoo\" target=\"_blank\">Burgers&#8217; Zoo<\/a> in <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Arnhem\" target=\"_blank\">Arnhem<\/a>) and I think this may be my favorite. Not because it\u2019s the largest or has the most animals but as someone who enjoys taking photos, the enclosures were great.\u00a0 Many of them had just glass separating you from the animals, which gave you the ability to get up quite close, which you can\u2019t do at a lot of zoos.<\/p>\n<p>Hopefully you\u2019ll have more luck getting that white tiger than I did, he was quite elusive\u2026 but, it gives me a great reason to visit again someday!<\/p>\n<p>MISS YOU, ERIN!!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m baaaack!\u00a0 Actually I\u2019ve been back for almost two weeks, but I\u2019ve either been busy, didn\u2019t feel like writing or was having issues with my host.\u00a0 Anyway, I\u2019m here now and that\u2019s what counts.
