Sunday was a beautiful day so Xander and I went back to Kinderdijk. The last time I was there<\/a> it was rather cloudy and I wanted to get some more photos on a sunny day, so Xander asked if I wanted to go on Sunday morning. It was so beautiful and a lot more busy than the previous time.<\/p>\n I call them ‘clog boots’ but I’m sure there is an actual Dutch name for them. It’s real Dutch wooden clogs made into boots. They were hanging on the wall inside one of the windmills and apparently they have been there for a very long time. <\/p>\n I think there are some farmers here who do still wear them. I can’t imagine them being very easy to walk in but I guess if you are used to them it’s not so bad. They just struck me as being soooo Dutch though, I loved it! I imagined this old farmer working in the windmill, tromping around in his big wooden clogs. For a few minutes I was a tourist again.<\/p>\n Sunday evening we went to visit our friend Alan. He’s a British expat friend of ours who worked with Xander at Shell and I befriended at one of their colleagues birthday parties. He recently bought a little house in the center of Delft<\/a>, which is one of the most beautiful little cities in the Netherlands. You may know it as the city where Delft Blue Pottery<\/a> originates from. <\/p>\n His house is on a tiny street in the center of the city called Trompetstraat, which he finds quite funny because he says that in the UK a Trompet is a slut.
