Having been completely unable to decide which camera I want<\/a>, I’ve decided to put that on hold until another time.  Instead, I’ve decided to sort out a proper enclosure for Sherman<\/a>.   For the last few weeks he’s been living in a large rabbit cage I picked up for 10 euros on Marktplaats<\/a>, but it’s not suitable for a forever home because it’s too open and doesn’t keep a proper temperature for him.<\/p>\n

<\/a>After a ton of research, I decided to buy this terrarium.   I called a lot of places that specialize in building terrariums and for an empty full glass terrarium of 150x50x50cm I’d be looking at approx 200 euros.  That was for just the glass enclosure and nothing else.<\/p>\n

I found this terrarium on Marktplaats, made by a guy named Danny in Papendrecht.   He’s a carpenter and he first started making enclosures for his own tortoises and other pets, then decided to continue making them to sell.  For 180 euros we get not only the enclosure but a beautiful built in background with a cave, plants etc.  Basically all I have to do is put the tortoise in.<\/p>\n

We wen to visit last night to check it out and it’s constructed really nicely and looks fantastic.   He has one in his livingroom with a few Hermann’s torts in it, which are the same species as Sherman, and it really looked awesome.   I can’t believe what an awesome deal I’ve found!<\/p>\n

On the down side, we found out yesterday that our washer is broken… AGAIN!  When we moved into this flat we took over the washer of the guy before us.  Which lasted a few years but ended up breaking<\/a>.   So we had to quickly find a new washer<\/a> and ended up getting the cheapest one we could find.<\/p>\n

BIG MISTAKE.   We bought an Indesit<\/a> washer which lasted exactly 2.5 years.  Exactly 6 months longer than the warranty. Goddammit!   <\/p>\n

When we were out washer shopping yesterday a sales girl in one of the shops leaned over and whispered to us on the sly that they all call Indesit In De Shit.   <\/strong>I can see why.<\/p>\n

I’ve found a new washer, a Whirlpool… which I have much more faith in than these cheapo brands I’ve never heard of.   So between that and Sherman’s new home, that’s my first paycheck gone.   <\/p>\n

I kind of like it though.   Not that our washer is busted, but that I am actually able to get us a new one and contribute something to the household for a change.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
