I still haven\u2019t finished working on my photos from Canada.\u00a0 I took so many, and I hadn\u2019t even finished working on the ones from France yet either.\u00a0 I am way behind but I will catch up soon enough.\u00a0 Here are some I have done already.\u00a0 I miss the beauty of home\u2026<\/p>\n

These photos were taken one afternoon while my parents and I were taking a drive “Over Home”, which means taking the old roads through Point Edward on the way to Sydney. \u00a0It’s called “Over Home” because it’s where my mother grew up and where most of her family still lives today.<\/p>\n

I brought my camera along to try to capture photos of the places I\u2019ve driven so many times but never stopped to notice in all the years I lived there.\u00a0 It\u2019s amazing how much more you notice after being away for a while.<\/p>\n

\"Heading<\/a><\/p>\n

The sky seems to go on forever, so much air and so much space.\u00a0 You can see my hometown on the other side of the harbour.<\/p>\n

\"Heading<\/a><\/p>\n

A church I\u2019ve passed a million times going back and forth to my grandparents but never stopped to look at. It\u2019s really quite pretty, this setting.<\/p>\n

\"Graveyard<\/a><\/p>\n

I small cemetery on the road to Point Edward. Who knows, maybe one of my distant relatives are buried here.<\/p>\n

\"Heading<\/a><\/p>\n

The harbour between Point Edward and my hometown, North Sydney.\u00a0 The gap you see in the distance in the middle is where it opens up to the Atlantic.\u00a0 The ferries travel back and forth through there daily on their way to Newfoundland.<\/p>\n

\"Cruise<\/a><\/p>\n

I took this photo of the waterfront in Sydney from the shore of Westmount.\u00a0 I don\u2019t remember there ever being cruise ships in Sydney when I was growing up but it\u2019s become a regular destination for them now.\u00a0 I laughed as I watched the tourists walking around bundled up in their winter jackets, hats and mittens.\u00a0 I was still wearing my summer jacket.<\/p>\n

\"Westmount<\/a><\/p>\n

\"Sydney<\/a><\/p>\n

This is something I miss so much, the sunlight on the water.\u00a0 I guess when you live on an island there is water like this everywhere you go.\u00a0 If it weren\u2019t for the wind and my parents waiting for me I could have sat on those rocks for hours, just breathing and enjoying the peace.<\/p>\n

\"Sydney<\/a><\/p>\n

This bridge connects Coxheath and Sydney River.\u00a0 I\u2019ve driven over it many many times in my lifetime but that day was the first time I\u2019d ever gone over it on foot. It was like walking across a rope bridge it jiggled so much with every car that went by.<\/p>\n

I am settled back into the Netherlands now, but I\u2019d be lying if I said I didn\u2019t miss the beauty and the space in Cape Breton.\u00a0 There is just so much air, I can breathe and relax there in a way I can never seem to do here. I miss that a lot.\u00a0 I really must find a \u2018Zen\u2019 place here in Rotterdam that can give me that feeling I get everywhere when I\u2019m home in Canada.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
