{"id":555,"date":"2006-11-16T09:03:56","date_gmt":"2006-11-16T07:03:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.breigh.com\/wordpress\/archives\/555"},"modified":"2010-05-24T22:29:36","modified_gmt":"2010-05-24T20:29:36","slug":"foad-devil-cats","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.canadutch.nl\/blog\/archives\/555","title":{"rendered":"FOAD Devil Cats!!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.foadt.com\/\" target=\"blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.breigh.com\/blogpics\/foad.gif\" alt=\"\" hspace=\"5\" align=\"left\" \/><\/a>This weeks FOAD is 100% dedicated to my cats.\u00a0\u00a0 Don&#8217;t be fooled by the photo, they look cute but they are evil, pure evil!<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Spencer &amp; Salem\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/\/152454284\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"right\" src=\"http:\/\/static.flickr.com\/45\/152454284_f8427833ef_m.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Spencer &amp; Salem\" hspace=\"0\" \/><\/a> By evil, I mean incredibly intelligent and crafty&#8230; and even a little <a href=\"http:\/\/www.breigh.com\/wordpress\/archives\/22\">insane<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In the past I&#8217;ve had moments where I was sure I was going to crack and give them away, but I&#8217;ve had them for 10 years and as much as they drive me nuts I DO love them.<\/p>\n<p>Spencer, my marmalade tabby (on the right) is the ring leader and he gets Salem in on all his evil plans.\u00a0 He&#8217;s crazy but he&#8217;s clever.<\/p>\n<p>One of the biggest problems with them has been how disruptive they have been during the nights.\u00a0 When we&#8217;d go to bed\u00a0is when all hell would break loose, errr.. and when loads of other things would break as well.\u00a0 Nothing was safe with them around.<\/p>\n<p>Spencer was horrible for meowing as well, day and night.\u00a0 Which the vet told us was an anxiety issue and he&#8217;s been on medication for it which does work, thank GOD!<\/p>\n<p>In the beginning when they used to start meowing at 4am or something we figured that maybe if we fed them they&#8217;d be quiet until we woke up.\u00a0\u00a0 So we went out and bought one of those timed cat feeders that would pop open at the time we set it for.\u00a0\u00a0 You know, like the kind people use if they are going away for the weekend or something.<\/p>\n<p>The first night we used it we went to bed and a few hours later I was woken up by this repetitive clicking noise.\u00a0\u00a0 It eventually stopped but by that time I couldn&#8217;t get back to sleep.\u00a0\u00a0 When I got up to pee I realized what the noise was&#8230; it was their little devil claws working on the feeder!\u00a0 It was laying on it&#8217;s side, open and EMPTY hours before the time it was set to open.<\/p>\n<p>This went on for 3 days and we said screw it and brought it back.\u00a0 Our cats may be evil but it should be able to withstand their poking.<\/p>\n<p>There have been numerous incidents like this, but this morning takes the cake.<\/p>\n<p>So lets get back to why I&#8217;m FOADing their furry asses&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Door to our flat\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/\/214919427\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/static.flickr.com\/58\/214919427_fa90e197ae_m.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Door to our flat\" hspace=\"10\" align=\"left\" \/><\/a> If you look in this photo I took of the door entering our flat, you can see the white doors that are on our spare bedroom.\u00a0 They are those slatty doors that can open in or out.<\/p>\n<p>We have a latch on the outside to keep them closed.\u00a0 The kind with the little arm that you push down into the U thing.<\/p>\n<p>This has worked perfectly for the past 6 years we&#8217;ve been living here.<\/p>\n<p>Last month we moved <a href=\"http:\/\/www.breigh.com\/wordpress\/archives\/485\">Harley&#8217;s cage<\/a> into the spare bedroom because it is easier to regulate the temperature in there during the winter months.\u00a0\u00a0 We also keep the dog and cat food bags in there.<\/p>\n<p>A few days ago I got out of bed and Xander told me that when he got up the spare bedroom was open and the cats chewed a hole in the cat food bag and pigged out.<\/p>\n<p>Great!\u00a0 So they&#8217;ve somehow figured out how to unlatch the latch that is at my eye level and get into the spare bedroom! WONDERFUL!<\/p>\n<p>For the last few nights we figured we&#8217;d show them and we took one of my hair elastics and wound it around the latch so that it couldn&#8217;t be pushed up.<\/p>\n<p>That ought to show them&#8230;\u00a0right?! &#8230;. <strong>WRONG<\/strong>!!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"right\" src=\"http:\/\/www.breigh.com\/blogpics\/spencerdoor.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/>This is what I woke up to this morning!\u00a0 I walked out the door of my bedroom and this is what I was greeted with.<\/p>\n<p>Our elastic rigged cat trick didn&#8217;t work, they outwitted us and just took the door off the hinges. WTF?! How do cats get a door off it&#8217;s hinges? HOW does that happen?!<\/p>\n<p>Note the litter kicked out of the litterbox? You would think this was in anger over our trickery but it&#8217;s not, it&#8217;s just another one of the evil things Spencer does to annoy us.<\/p>\n<p>As you can see, I&#8217;ve enlarged his face so you can get a good look.\u00a0 Now, some may blame the flash for this, but I think it&#8217;s the face of evil.
