Last weekend Penny<\/a> and I went to Blijdorp Zoo<\/a> here in Rotterdam.\u00a0 I have been a few times before<\/a>, but it really is one of those places you could visit again and again. \u00a0It was hotter than hell so I actually got over the whole fat arms thing and wore a tank top<\/a> in public. \u00a0I was paranoid and self-conscious the entire time, but I did it. \u00a0That’s what counts, right? \u00a0Baby steps.<\/p>\n

Anyway, I took over 6 gigs worth of photos which I still need to sort through, but I thought I\u2019d share this little story first.<\/p>\n

Not long after we entered the zoo we were walking through an area where a lot of the birds hang out.\u00a0 There\u2019s a wooden walk way through a pond where they keep their nests.\u00a0 I was taking a photo of some ducklings when Penny told me to turn around slowly.\u00a0 I wasn\u2019t sure what I was in for, but then I saw this.<\/p>\n

There was a pelican trying to eat this dude\u2019s leg!\u00a0 He also pulled the laces from his shoes and the guy even put his hand inside his mouth.\u00a0\u00a0 I took a lot of photos but they came out really blurry because we were all laughing so much.<\/p>\n

Clearly he was not afraid of humans at all, and the guy said it didn\u2019t hurt.\u00a0 I wasn\u2019t convinced.<\/p>\n

Penny was though, so she went in for some kisses.\u00a0 Awwww, so sweet!!<\/p>\n

She really loved this bird, lemme tell ya!\u00a0 It was totally gentle with her too so I thought maybe the guy might be telling the truth.\u00a0 Penny put her arm in it\u2019s mouth and petted it and everything, so it couldn\u2019t be so bad, right?\u00a0\u00a0 If they could do it, I could\u2026 I mean it\u2019s just a bird.<\/p>\n

\"The<\/a><\/p>\n

Just a bird my ass! Oh HELL to the NO.<\/p>\n

Maybe I stood there and hesitated too long.\u00a0 I mean I\u2019m not usually one to be afraid of any kind of animal but this bird freaked me the hell out!<\/p>\n

Apparently pelicans can sense weakness.\u00a0 Seriously, I barely made it out with my life.<\/p>\n

I called for the park rangers to come with the tranquilizing darts, but they just left me there to die.<\/p>\n

That felt really friggin\u2019 weird.\u00a0 It didn\u2019t hurt but still it freaked me out<\/em>.\u00a0 I couldn\u2019t stop squealing, which probably didn\u2019t work in my favor when it came to trying to stop the bird from trying to eat me.<\/p>\n

I did relax after a little while\u2026 a little bit.\u00a0 It was actually kind of fun!<\/p>\n

Hey bird, you want something to bite?!<\/p>\n

Oh that cheeky little devil!!!<\/p>\n

He totally called my bluff.<\/p>\n
