It’s now one week since I started my tree skirt project for x-mas.\u00a0 I still have a month and a half to finish it but I’m trying to get the patchwork done as quickly as possible.\u00a0 I’ve never gotten past the patchwork stage and the actual quilting and binding is unfamiliar territory to me so I want to leave as much time for that as possible.<\/p>\n

These are the pieces I have completed so far.<\/p>\n

At the moment it consists of five large squares and the two small corner triangles.\u00a0 Later the larger squares will be attached to each other.\u00a0 For now I just laid them in place to see what they look like.<\/p>\n

It’s not perfect, I need to get a quilting ruler with inches because I think in the process of converting it to cm I was off by a few.\u00a0 Some of the pieces ended up a tiny bit larger than others and you can see how it sort of puckered when I sewed it together.\u00a0\u00a0 I’m not going to get fussy about it though as this is the first quilt I’m doing all on my own.\u00a0 It will give me something to compare my fabulous quilting work against 20 years from now. hehe<\/p>\n

Afterwards I quickly threw all the loose pieces into place so I could get an idea of how it will look when it’s completed.\u00a0\u00a0 I think it will be really nice once I get it all together and start with the quilting.<\/p>\n

Regardless, it will definately look better than the cat hair covered red felt piece of shit I’ve been using for under my tree for the last few years.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
