Last winter I took a quilting class with another expat girl I know.\u00a0\u00a0 I know it sounds like something only old women would enjoy, but it’s actually quite nice.\u00a0 It’s relaxing to sit and sew in front of the TV and such.\u00a0\u00a0 I don’t have a sewing machine yet so I do it all by hand.<\/p>\n

\"example\"<\/a>I ended up missing the last 2 classes because I was sick, so I didn’t learn how to finish the quilt.<\/p>\n

This is a photo of the quilt our teacher made to show us how ours will look in the end, which is all I really had to go on.\u00a0\u00a0 I never did get it all done and it’s been tucked away in a drawer for the last year.<\/p>\n

Yesterday I dug it out and after visiting a friend in the morning I stopped off at the shop where I took the lessons.\u00a0\u00a0 The lady who owns the place gave me instructions on the next step to putting it all together so I’m going to try to get it done.<\/p>\n

This is an example of some of the squares I have finished.\u00a0 I have all nine blocks done now, but don’t have photos of them all. Now I will put them all together along with the edging, then move on to the actual quilting.<\/p>\n

First though,\u00a0 I’m going to make this Christmas Star Tree Skirt<\/a>, which will be the first time I’ve followed a pattern all on my own. I bought the fabrics for it yesterday.<\/p>\n

\"Tree<\/a>They are somewhat similar to the colors I’m using in my first quilt, which is just sort of coincidence since I chose the colors for that one but the tree skirt calls for these colors.\u00a0\u00a0 Plus, they will both match my livingroom!<\/p>\n

I’ll post updates as I work on the tree skirt, that will get priority since I only have until x-mas to get it done, yikes!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
