{"id":524,"date":"2006-10-20T08:06:35","date_gmt":"2006-10-20T06:06:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.breigh.com\/wordpress\/archives\/524"},"modified":"2008-08-07T10:41:35","modified_gmt":"2008-08-07T08:41:35","slug":"the-quilting-bug","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.canadutch.nl\/blog\/archives\/524","title":{"rendered":"The Quilting Bug"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last winter I took a quilting class with another expat girl I know.\u00a0\u00a0 I know it sounds like something only old women would enjoy, but it&#8217;s actually quite nice.\u00a0 It&#8217;s relaxing to sit and sew in front of the TV and such.\u00a0\u00a0 I don&#8217;t have a sewing machine yet so I do it all by hand.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Photo Sharing\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/breigh\/274403499\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/static.flickr.com\/102\/274403499_bdb4b443f6_m.jpg\" alt=\"example\" hspace=\"10\" width=\"240\" height=\"180\" align=\"left\" \/><\/a>I ended up missing the last 2 classes because I was sick, so I didn&#8217;t learn how to finish the quilt.<\/p>\n<p>This is a photo of the quilt our teacher made to show us how ours will look in the end, which is all I really had to go on.\u00a0\u00a0 I never did get it all done and it&#8217;s been tucked away in a drawer for the last year.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday I dug it out and after visiting a friend in the morning I stopped off at the shop where I took the lessons.\u00a0\u00a0 The lady who owns the place gave me instructions on the next step to putting it all together so I&#8217;m going to try to get it done.<\/p>\n<p>This is an example of some of the squares I have finished.\u00a0 I have all nine blocks done now, but don&#8217;t have photos of them all. Now I will put them all together along with the edging, then move on to the actual quilting.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Photo Sharing\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/breigh\/274403565\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/static.flickr.com\/112\/274403565_4330b43c45.jpg\" alt=\"sixblock\" width=\"500\" height=\"320\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>First though,\u00a0 I&#8217;m going to make this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.quilters-world.com\/freepatterns\/pdfs\/1201christmasstartreeskirt.pdf\">Christmas Star Tree Skirt<\/a>, which will be the first time I&#8217;ve followed a pattern all on my own.
