{"id":453,"date":"2006-08-28T20:42:47","date_gmt":"2006-08-28T18:42:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.breigh.com\/wordpress\/archives\/453"},"modified":"2006-08-28T20:45:46","modified_gmt":"2006-08-28T18:45:46","slug":"turtle-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.canadutch.nl\/blog\/archives\/453","title":{"rendered":"Turtle Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After <a href=\"http:\/\/www.breigh.com\/wordpress\/archives\/421\" target=\"_blank\">the first Bunker<\/a> dieing, and losing <a href=\"http:\/\/www.breigh.com\/wordpress\/archives\/443\" target=\"_blank\">the second Bunker<\/a> such a short while later, I was quite unsure what I wanted to do with the new tank we had previously ordered.<\/p>\n<p>We had a new baby turtle that we&#8217;d bought to keep the second Bunker company after the death of the first one.  We named him <a href=\"http:\/\/www.breigh.com\/wordpress\/archives\/438\" target=\"_blank\">Frick!<\/a> (with !) and he was left all alone after the second Bunker passed away on us.<\/p>\n<p>In the end we decided to give it another try.   I love turtles and while I feel bad that we lost the first pair.. now we know what to do and how to make sure they have the best environment possible.<\/p>\n<p>Things we have now that we didn&#8217;t have before:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Better knowledge of their diet and nutritional needs.  <\/li>\n<li>A UV light with UVA \/ UVB for vitamin D3, etc<\/li>\n<li>A nice basking area with a heat lamp <\/li>\n<li>Large river rocks instead of gravel (turtles eat gravel, it&#8217;s not good for them)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Here are some photos of the new setup!
