It was a Scottish lady from Heemstede (outside Amsterdam) who was in a rush to find someone to petsit as she and her family had to leave for Scotland the next day for a funeral. There is no internet here, and no phone line. I was cut off from the world for a day because my mobile ran out of juice and I forgot the charger. The dog is beautiful and very sweet but unfortunately is completely uncontrollable as she has had no training whatsoever. She is a 1 year old Weimaraner (I might have spelled that wrong) and can be very sweet and cuddly but when she gets excited, she’s pretty dangerous. She doesn’t know her own strength and has punched me in the face a few times with her paws already (while I was standing). I really dislike her when she’s hyper, but when she’s calm and curls up next to me to sleep I adore her. I think with some training and more exercise she’d be one heck of a great dog.

They also have 5 cats and 4 kittens. They are all very very sweet. Some go outside and some don’t. The kittens stay inside with their mother… My allergies have kicked in though, I guess having this many animals around would do it. Luckily I remembered to bring some allergy meds (or rather Xander told me to when he heard I’d be in a house with 1 dog and 9 cats). Going out for a while this afternoon to Haarlem to visit an Irish guy Xander works with. That will give my sinuses a break!

This has been a learning experience, to say the least. The more I do this the more I’ll learn what questions to ask ahead of time, limits to set etc. My first gig was a breeze, this one has definately been more of a challenge. I would come here again though, the more I get used to this dog the easier it’s gotten.

Gonna shut up now, and upload this before I lose connection. I’m leeching net access from a neighbour on my wireless and I get a crappy signal. More news when I get home tomorrow night!

22:58 pm
Won’t be back on Sunday night afterall. Owner called and asked if I could stay till Monday instead. Connection I’m leeching from the neighbour seems more stable this evening, maybe I’ll stay connected for more than 5 minutes.

When I got back Tuesday night from petsitting Gus, Ike and Daisey my phone was ringing when I walked in the door.
