I was forwarded to a dietician in my hometown and didn’t like her at all. I hated everything she had to say and I felt terrible when I left.

Today I saw a dietician for the 2nd time in my life, and she was absolutely lovely. Funny thing was, she said many of the same things the other dietician said. I guess it all boils down to how motivated you are to do something and what your level of comittment is. I was ready to hear it all this time, I wanted to hear it.. I want the guidance and support and it makes all the difference in the world.

She’s a young woman, I’d try to guess her age but I’d probably be wrong so I’ll make a broad range and say from mid 20’s to mid 30’s and she was very friendly. She was quite surprised that I’d lost almost 15 lbs in the time between when my fertility specialist referred me to her and actually getting in to see her. I, of course, sat up and beamed because I must admit.. I’m pretty stoked about it myself!

She asked me a lot of questions about what I eat. What I usually have for breakfast, lunch and dinner, what I eat for snacks, what I drink and she asked if I smoke or drink alcohol. After getting all of my info I think we were both surprised when she informed me that my problem at the moment is UNDEREATING. After explaining to her all the things I’d cut out of my diet and what I’ve been eating on a day to day basis, she was very impressed. Although it would appear I’ve overdone it… I’ve cut back TOO much on what I’m eating.

Over the next two weeks I have to write down everything I eat, and see her again on August 10th. Then she will look into it in more depth and make sure I’m getting all the vitimiins and minerals that I need. One thing I need to do in the meantime is try to eat more bread.. either brown bread, rice, pasta, cereal or whatever. I’d been cutting back on that quite a lot and she told me it wasn’t healthy. I’m sure the Atkins-aholics would disagree, but I’m going with the professional on this one.

So, overall it was a great visit. I weighed in the same there as I did at home, 14 lbs down from my starting weight 8 weeks ago.

What I really liked about her though, was that she gave me her phone number and email address and told me if I have any questions about foods, need info on anything or just need some motivation that I can phone or email her anytime. I think that’s pretty cool… I’m already looking forward to seeing her again on the 10th and finding out how I can change my eating habits to something a bit more well balanced.

It sure is weird having someone telling me to eat MORE though. Can’t say I’ve ever had that happen before!

She’s mine and I want to keep her forever.
