As you know, I\u2019m a big Reality TV<\/a> junkie.  I\u2019ve been subjecting myself to the insanity of American Idol<\/a> for years, even though I not-so-secretly hate it.   I\u2019ve watched Project Runway, Survivor, The Amazing Race, Hell\u2019s Kitchen and endless other reality shows as well.   I\u2019m not sure why I like it, but I think a part of it is watching people do what they love.  Whether it\u2019s singing, cooking or dancing\u2026 people are on some of these shows trying to make their dreams come true.<\/p>\n

I can\u2019t remember a more touching example of that than what I witnessed recently with Susan Boyle, on Britain\u2019s Got Talent.   I was forwarded a link to a Dutch website with an article titled \u201cUgly English Woman Has Talent\u201d, god \u2013 what a way to describe someone!   When she stepped out on stage, nobody took her seriously and a part of me was dreading that the title of the article was actually sarcasm and she was going to sound terrible.  I felt sad for her already.  It wasn\u2019t though, and she was amazing.<\/p>\n

This unemployed 47 year old British woman has sent the world in a tailspin with her amazing singing talent.   Overnight, she has become a singing sensation with videos of her audition getting millions upon millions of hits.   There are even rumors about Simon Cowell<\/a> already trying to sort her out a record deal.<\/p>\n

What I love most, is how little anyone expected this from her.   In her interview she says that she\u2019s been picked on a lot as a child, and has never been married or even kissed. <\/em>In other articles I read, it explained how she spent years looking after her ill mother and that she has learning disabilities due to a lack of oxygen at birth.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve watched the video about ten times already and every time it\u2019s brought tears to my eyes.   Chances are you\u2019ve already seen it too, but just in case you haven\u2019t, I have to share.  I think everyone should see this.<\/p>\n

People can bash Reality TV all they want, but moments like this are what it\u2019s really all about.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
