Yesterday while working on some crafts I watched the movie Mamma Mia<\/a>.  I\u2019d been wanting to see this movie but had a hellish time getting there.  My friend Penny doesn\u2019t like musicals, my husband would rather hand over his left testicle on a plate than see it and everyone else either wasn\u2019t into it or we had trouble sorting out our schedules.<\/p>\n

So I downloaded it.<\/p>\n

I seem to have trouble with musicals in general, with the exception of a few like Grease<\/a>, Grease 2<\/a> (I AM NOT ASHAMED!), and The Little Mermaid<\/a> to which I know every word.<\/p>\n

I made it through about 20 minutes of Chicago<\/a>, 30 minutes of Moulin Rouge<\/a> and don\u2019t even get me started on that damn Dancer in the Dark<\/a>.  I thought I would be able to sit through Mamma Mia the whole way though, I mean I like Abba, I love Meryl Streep.  I love a good chick flick!<\/p>\n

I did make it all the way through but the movie annoyed me and I fast forwarded a lot of the singing and dancing.   I didn\u2019t enjoy it nearly as much as I thought I would and I\u2019m pretty sure I\u2019m joining Penny in the ranks of the haters of all things musical (except Grease).<\/p>\n

The only musical parts I really enjoyed in it was the very beginning and very end when Sophie is singing \u201cI have a dream\u201d and the part where Meryl Streep sang \u201cThe Winner Takes it All\u201d (which made me cry, I think I\u2019m hormonal).   Otherwise I could have done without every bit of the music, especially the parts where Pierce Brosnan was singing.  I\u2019m thinking he was put in for extra eye candy because whenever he sang I cringed\u2026 it was like he was in pain.<\/p>\n

One other thing I hated was Christine Baranski<\/a>.  I linked to her because I\u2019m sure every single one of you are thinking \u201cWho?!\u201d and have to click the link to see.   What in the heck was she doing in this movie?  Ok, I get it\u2026 she does fit the bill with the whole semi-skanky, plastic surgery freak but bleeeeeh.  I can\u2019t stand this actress.  I have hated her in every single thing I\u2019ve seen her in.  Remember her as that annoying friend on Cybil<\/a>?<\/p>\n

So yeah, I\u2019m torn. Other than the singing I loved the story, loved the three guys, loved Meryl Streep and especially loved Amanda Seyfried<\/a> playing Sophie.   I would have loved to see a non-musical version with the same people minus the Cybil bitch.<\/p>\n

Oh and the scenery, I loved the scenery.  If it weren\u2019t for all that climbing I could move to where they live and die happy.<\/p>\n
