{"id":1769,"date":"2008-11-01T10:32:03","date_gmt":"2008-11-01T08:32:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.breigh.com\/wordpress\/?p=1769"},"modified":"2010-05-31T23:57:22","modified_gmt":"2010-05-31T21:57:22","slug":"halloween-in-the-netherlands","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.canadutch.nl\/blog\/archives\/1769","title":{"rendered":"Halloween in The Netherlands"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Halloween Pumpkins 2008 by Breigh.com, on Flickr\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/breigh\/2990605753\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3293\/2990605753_49f7e6e490.jpg\" alt=\"Halloween Pumpkins 2008\" width=\"455\" height=\"354\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Halloween is not a big thing in NL at all.\u00a0 They sell a small amount of decoration in some shops but there is no big hype about it like back in North America.\u00a0 There\u2019s no children out trick or treating, no big zombie walks like in Toronto (I soooo wish there was) and the only way you will have any Halloween in your life is if you bring it in yourself.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Halloween Pumpkins 2008\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/36166632@N00\/2990605909\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/static.flickr.com\/3184\/2990605909_dcff0db9d5.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Halloween Pumpkins 2008\" width=\"193\" height=\"240\" \/><\/a> <a title=\"Halloween Pumpkins 2008\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/36166632@N00\/2991458882\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/static.flickr.com\/3072\/2991458882_b87457caeb.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Halloween Pumpkins 2008\" width=\"180\" height=\"240\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Hubby and I got two smallish pumpkins at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.intratuin.nl\" target=\"_blank\">Intratuin<\/a> while my parents were here and have been waiting to carve them on Halloween.\u00a0 We had plans that we would \u2018celebrate\u2019 by carving pumpkins, ordering some take-out and watching a movie.\u00a0\u00a0 So we did.\u00a0 We ordered Spare Ribs, watched <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0942385\/\">Tropic Thunder<\/a> (which was ok but kind of dumb&#8230; wasn&#8217;t as good as all the hype made it seem) and carved us some pumpkins!<\/p>\n<p>Xander went with the puking pumpkin and I went with what you may think is a grim reaper pumpkin\u2026 but it\u2019s NOT!\u00a0 It\u2019s a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.breigh.com\/wordpress\/archives\/1630\" target=\"_blank\">DEAD LIKE ME<\/a> pumpkin!!
