Oh my god I can\u2019t believe I\u2019m finally saying this, but my parents will be here NEXT WEEK!! We\u2019ve been counting this down for months and it\u2019s almost here. Mom and Dad hugs, Canadian goodies, all my favorite people together again in one room!!<\/p>\n
I\u2019m excited! I\u2019m freaking out!<\/p>\n
I know most other expat women I know go through odd stages when family are visiting from home. For months leading up to it, it\u2019s just massive excitement. For the last few weeks before they arrive it\u2019s a madhouse getting everything prepared. The last few days before they get there is spent in a complete hissy fit due to nerves, excitement and stress.<\/p>\n
Having them here is wonderful, and then before you know it they are gone.<\/p>\n
Then\u2026 two weeks of the blues.<\/p>\n
I\u2019m pretty sure this is stock standard for us expat gals, at least that\u2019s what I gather from conversations with them. Either that or you all are just amusing me so I don\u2019t feel like a total nutcase. I\u2019m ok with being lied to in cases like these.<\/p>\n
I love it when they are here, which is odd because I generally don\u2019t like company that sleeps over. I tend to get sick of people easily. Not them though, I\u2019m pretty sure they could stay for months and I\u2019d never get tired of having them around.<\/p>\n
Thankfully, they love Xander to pieces and always look forward to spending time with him too. He has a great relationship with them, which makes me very happy because their opinion means a lot to me. I honestly can\u2019t imagine how I would cope if my family couldn\u2019t see all the things I love about him too.<\/p>\n
Now that it\u2019s in the \u2018next week\u2019 phase, I\u2019m fully aware that I am going to be a total spaz. Xander is aware of this too, as well as the fact that it\u2019s also going to be \u2018PMS phase\u2019. Double whammy!<\/p>\n
