{"id":1649,"date":"2008-09-17T19:01:29","date_gmt":"2008-09-17T17:01:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.breigh.com\/wordpress\/?p=1649"},"modified":"2010-05-24T21:33:42","modified_gmt":"2010-05-24T19:33:42","slug":"tesi-bon-mac-cheese-the-disappointment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.canadutch.nl\/blog\/archives\/1649","title":{"rendered":"Tesi Bon Mac &#038; Cheese \u2013 The Disappointment."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.breigh.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/09\/tesibon.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"tesibon\" height=\"240\" alt=\"tesibon\" src=\"http:\/\/www.breigh.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/09\/tesibon-thumb.jpg\" width=\"117\" align=\"left\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you grew up in Canada, chances are you love Kraft Dinner, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.breigh.com\/wordpress\/archives\/682\" target=\"_blank\">just like me<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If you are an expat in the Netherlands, you know it\u2019s not easy to find here and when you do find it it\u2019s expensive (but always worth the buy).<\/p>\n<p>Recently, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ah.nl\" target=\"_blank\">Albert Heijn<\/a> has started carrying an assortment of imported items.&#160; Among these items are Tesi Bon mustard and Tesi Bon Macaroni and Cheese.<\/p>\n<p>I couldn\u2019t help myself, I bought both.<\/p>\n<p>The mustard is great\u2026 just your run of the mill down home yellow mustard.&#160; This makes me happy because most grocery stores here only carry English mustard or French mustard, which are spicy and gross when used on things us North Americans would normally slather mustard on.<\/p>\n<p>I have been holding off on the Mac and Cheese because I kind of knew deep down it couldn\u2019t be the same, but I hoped it was.&#160; My hopes were slightly diminished when <a href=\"http:\/\/pennyinholland.blogspot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Penny<\/a> told me it pretty much tastes like shit.&#160;&#160; I thought it might be because she prepares her KD differently than I do, using milk.<\/p>\n<p>I was wrong.&#160; Oh I was so wrong.<\/p>\n<p>Today was one of those need groceries, eating whatever is left in the cupboards days.&#160;&#160; What was left in the cupboard was the this Mac and Cheese, so I decided to give it a try.&#160; I thought it would probably help that I hadn\u2019t had breakfast and was completely famished by lunch time, figuring the abundance of appetite would compensate for the supposed lack of taste.<\/p>\n<p>It looked \u2026 pale.&#160; The noodles were different\u2026 shorter than the Kraft version and the powder that comes with it is very fine and doesn\u2019t have that really orange color.&#160; I knew then that I was in trouble.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.breigh.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/09\/puke.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1650\" title=\"puke\" height=\"200\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.breigh.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/09\/puke.png\" width=\"200\" class=\"rss\" align=\"left\" \/><\/a>When I tasted it I got exactly what I was expecting.&#160;&#160; A mouthful of tasteless mush. UGH!&#160; I even tried loading it up with ketchup like I do with KD and it only made it worse.&#160; You might think this would make it worse with KD too but it doesn&#8217;t, I swear.<\/p>\n<p>I then tried adding some pepper, that was a big mistake because that was all I tasted.&#160; It was like putting pepper on oatmeal. YUM!<\/p>\n<p>I only ate the one mouthful, but thankfully it was gross enough to kill whatever appetite I had left.<\/p>\n<p>So if you are thinking of buying it.&#160; Don\u2019t bother.&#160; You\u2019ll just be disappointed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If you grew up in Canada, chances are you love Kraft Dinner, just like me.
