Today Xander had to go in to the office for a few minutes.  He is on a new project with the government in Dordrecht and the first day he was there he went to hunt and gather for lunch.  He phoned me telling me that there was a quilt shop around the corner, and a deli with import items up the road.<\/p>\n

You can bet your ass I went with him this time.<\/p>\n

Oh yeah BABY!!!!  As I’m typing this I keep stopping to pick up the Crunchie bar and have a nibble on it.   To those of you in Canada and the US, this seems like nothing but to me, here in Holland it\u2019s such a rare treat.  An expensive one as well, which makes it extra rare.<\/p>\n

I was especially excited to find Juicy Fruit gum, because it reminds me of my dad.  One thing you can pretty much always count on is that he has Juicy Fruit in his pocket.  Even now, I haven\u2019t opened it yet but I can smell it in my mind and it takes me back to when I was a kid.   That package is going to last me a while!  I\u2019ll have to do like dad did when I was little and rip the sticks of gum in half.<\/p>\n

I think if someone had ever told me there would be a day when I\u2019d actually RATION Juicy Fruit I\u2019d think they were nuts\u2026 but it\u2019s not all that bad.   It\u2019s not like there is no food over here in the Netherlands, it\u2019s just different.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m sure there are Dutchies in Canada who would KILL for some Dutch Drop<\/a> right about now!<\/p>\n
