{"id":1552,"date":"2008-09-06T09:31:25","date_gmt":"2008-09-06T07:31:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.breigh.com\/wordpress\/?p=1552"},"modified":"2010-06-01T00:02:46","modified_gmt":"2010-05-31T22:02:46","slug":"big-brother-uk-winner-revealed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.canadutch.nl\/blog\/archives\/1552","title":{"rendered":"Big Brother UK Winner Revealed!!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you are watching this season and haven\u2019t seen the winner yet, stop reading now!!&#160; There will be major spoilers.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s no secret that I\u2019m a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.breigh.com\/wordpress\/?s=reality+tv&amp;x=0&amp;y=0\" target=\"_blank\">Reality TV junky<\/a>, so it will come as no surprise that I\u2019ve been following Big Brother UK for the past few years.&#160;&#160; I enjoy it far better than the US version for a number of reasons:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The housemates are much more real.&#160; It\u2019s not a house full of Kens and Barbies with the odd old or ugly person thrown in.&#160; They are real people with real lives.&#160; They even go to the opposite extreme sometimes by throwing in people who have issues that people don\u2019t get to see every day.&#160; Like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.channel4.com\/bigbrother\/housemates\/profile.jsp?housemateId=236\" target=\"_blank\">Darnell<\/a> (albino black man), <a href=\"http:\/\/www.channel4.com\/bigbrother\/housemates\/profile.jsp?housemateId=259\" target=\"_blank\">Mikey<\/a> (blind) and my <strong>favorite<\/strong> of all and winner of BB7 in the UK (also my favorite season BY FAR, download it <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mininova.org\/tor\/402604\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>), Pete Bennett.&#160; He has Tourettes and was the best and most interesting housemate ever.&#160; He deserves a video. Here are his best bits. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p> <center><object classid=\"clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000\" width=\"425\" height=\"344\" codebase=\"http:\/\/download.macromedia.com\/pub\/shockwave\/cabs\/flash\/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0\"><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"src\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/iI3qP3A0a5I&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1\" \/><embed type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" width=\"425\" height=\"344\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/iI3qP3A0a5I&amp;hl=en&amp;fs=1\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/embed><\/object><\/center> <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The housemates are not allowed to scheme and discuss nominations like in the US version.&#160; While I admit it does add an extra level of bitchiness and fun to BBUS, I prefer the UK style because then housemates really have to get by on how they portray themselves to the other housemates.&#160; There are still alliances and obvious groups of friends but there is no planned group nominating, no veto and no back-dooring.&#160;&#160; The housemates nominate, those with the most nominations are put up for eviction and the public votes to eliminate.&#160;&#160; So what they do behind the scenes and their attitudes in the diary room and such DO matter because the public sees it all. <\/li>\n<li>There is a large crowd there for all the evictions and the housemates get a true feeling of how the public feels about them.&#160; It\u2019s not his \u2018studio\u2019 audience crap like on BBUS. <\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Davina_McCall\" target=\"_blank\">DAVINAAAA<\/a>!!!&#160; Davina McCall is the best, funniest, most entertaining television presenter ever.&#160; That is a fact.&#160; So needless to say, she kicks the robotic <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Julie_Chen\" target=\"_blank\">Julie Chen<\/a>\u2019s ass to hell in back in pretty much every way possible.&#160;&#160; I watch the eviction episodes more to see her than to see who gets evicted sometimes. <\/li>\n<li>Swearing, boobs, dicks, sex, alcohol, fights\u2026 you get it all on BBUK!! <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Now, having said that, this season of BBUK was DREADFUL!! It falls 100% on the shoulders of whomever was responsible for choosing the housemates.&#160;&#160; I have never seen such a sour, pissy, boring and completely irritating group of people ever.&#160;&#160; With the exception of a few (VERY FEW) I was sickened to think of any of them winning.&#160;&#160; If it weren\u2019t for previous seasons being so highly entertaining I\u2019d never watch it again.<\/p>\n<p>So who won this season?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.breigh.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/09\/rachel.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"rachel\" height=\"250\" alt=\"rachel\" src=\"http:\/\/www.breigh.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/09\/rachel-thumb.jpg\" width=\"166\" align=\"left\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>RACHEL!!<\/p>\n<p>You know what that means?&#160; It means that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.breigh.com\/wordpress\/archives\/1321\" target=\"_blank\">Rex<\/a>, the vile, spoiled, man-child DIDN\u2019T!! HOORAY!!<\/p>\n<p>If Rachel had been in any of the other seasons I\u2019d seen I probably wouldn\u2019t have been rooting for her to win.&#160; She would have paled in comparison with some of the fantastic housemates of the past.&#160;&#160; In this season though, she was the lesser of all the evils.&#160; In fact, she was not evil at all, something Rex and others continuously gave her grief about.<\/p>\n<p>Lets face it.&#160; The girl deserves the money.&#160; She was stuck in a house with a group of idiots and was pretty much the only person to not complain.&#160;&#160; Even her sickeningly sweet best friend&#160; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.channel4.com\/bigbrother\/housemates\/profile.jsp?housemateId=235\" target=\"_blank\">HAPPY HAPPY HOUSE Kathreya<\/a> pitched a fit every now and then and ran off crying.<\/p>\n<p>She stuck to her guns, didn\u2019t let anyone drag her down or feel bad about herself, in spite of all their efforts.&#160; Well done Rachel!<\/p>\n<p>Note to Channel 4:&#160; Please choose better housemates next season or I\u2019m afraid our relationship isn\u2019t going to work out.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If you are watching this season and haven\u2019t seen the winner yet, stop reading now!!&#160; There will be major spoilers.
