Before I go any further, if the title made you think “… feel the ride!”\u00a0(because it’s been stuck in your head ever since Cool Runnings<\/a>), we are kindred spirits.<\/p>\n

Anyway, months ago some of us Scheepjes bloggers were asked what we would like to see added to\u00a0their yarn line. \u00a0At that time I was all like “Lace… definitely lace… LACE I WANT LACE, how about some lace, have you thought about lace,<\/strong><\/em> LACE WOULD BE GOOD<\/em><\/strong>!!”. \u00a0I may have followed it up every few months with a “So… how we coming along on that lace?” \u00a0I think they got the message\u00a0because\u00a0it’s happening, people, and I’m so excited!<\/p>\n

I’m also excited to be\u00a0able to give you a sneak peek, so you can see what all the fuss is about.\u00a0 This is\u00a0the new line of Aplaca Rhythm<\/strong> an Mohair Rhythm<\/strong>\u00a0yarns that will be hitting shelves soon. This photo below is the colour chart put out by Scheepjes. \u00a0Each of the colours available in the Alpaca Rhythm is also available in Mohair Rhythm, so you can let your imagination run wild with the combination of colour and texture. \u00a0Both together, separately, or alternating… the possibilities are endless.<\/p>\n

\"Alpaca<\/a><\/p>\n

I have to touch on the whole yarn theme thing while I’m here. \u00a0I don’t know why, and I think I may have mentioned this before, but I\u00a0loooove<\/em> when a yarn has a theme and names. \u00a0I mean sure, throw the numbers on there as well, but to have just the numbers alone? Meh. The names add something for me, it’s fun! \u00a0Isn’t it more fun to talk about a colour called Jitterbug rather than just 667? \u00a0Of course it is, because otherwise\u00a0they wouldn’t be able to make super cute promo material like this…<\/p>\n

\"Scheepjes<\/a><\/p>\n

I was so lucky to receive samples of these yarns, and I would have done the thing where I lay them out and they look all pretty for the photos, but as I tend to do, I’ve fondled them to death. \u00a0I just couldn’t help it! \u00a0I keep sticking my hand in and squeezing, pulling them out and rubbing them on my cheek. The softness, it kills me. \u00a0I think I need to set myself a firm rule that for any new yarns I receive I’m only allowed to touch them\u00a0for<\/em>\u00a0photos until I\u00a0have photos,\u00a0<\/em>because I squish and squeeze and fuss about moving them around too much. Before I know it they look like they’ve been through a war. \u00a0I’m weak, though, so don’t get your hopes up for next time\u00a0as it’s very likely it will be another “Oops, couldn’t control myself” moment.<\/p>\n

I’ve been keeping these in a big bag on my dining table, a bag that I sincerely wish I could shrink myself down, burrow into and sleep in like a bed. \u00a0Can you blame me?<\/p>\n

\"Rhythm\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Yes…\u00a0Yes, it is as soft and squishy as it looks. \u00a0No, you may not come over and play with it, it’s mine. \u00a0My precious! \u00a0Get your own.<\/p>\n

There are so many wonderful colour combinations to be put together. I like that there is a mixture of bold, vibrant colours but also a variety of softer, more muted tones. \u00a0I can’t say which I prefer, bold or muted as it seems to change depending on my mood. \u00a0I’m terribly indecisive so it takes me forever and a day to choose colour options, especially when I like them all. Literally. \u00a0I need a colour consultant, or someone to hold my chocolate hostage until I can make a decision for myself.<\/p>\n

\"Mohair<\/a><\/p>\n

Also? \u00a0Something I\u00a0know<\/em> I’ve mentioned before that I loved in the new yarn lines is the easy start tabs. I’m so glad they’ve decided to continue with this because HELLO! Mohair? \u00a0Have you ever tried to dig an end out of the middle of a ball of mohair? \u00a0If you did, you’ll be thanking the yarn gods too right now.<\/p>\n

\"rhythm4\"<\/a><\/p>\n

If you haven’t, I’m sure you can get an idea just by looking at the photos. \u00a0Mohair is incredibly thin and from my experience, digging the end out of the center is like trying to find a needle in a needlestack. \u00a0It’s one of the most frustrating experiences this knitter has ever had, I can tell you that.<\/p>\n

I’ve already started working on my first project using Alpaca Rhythm in the colour Polka (I’m not even looking for the number, because numbers are so yesterday!). \u00a0With Christmas coming up, gifts to be made, orders needing to be filled and past projects to finish, the smart move is definitely to go with a large needle for a quick, flowy knit. \u00a0Well, I suppose if you’re not me, because I went totally in the opposite direction.<\/p>\n

\"Rhythm\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I’m using 2.5mm needles, and if\u00a0I’m going to use 2.5mm needles and knit with lace, I may as well go all in\u00a0and add teeny tiny beads too, right? \u00a0Worst case I’ll just ask Santa for another few arms for Christmas!<\/p>\n
