Time for an update on my BlueSand Cardigan! \u00a0I have been going great guns on this pattern and just as I suspected in my earlier post<\/a>, the yoke \/ shoulder shaping was the most difficult part. \u00a0Well, so far at least!<\/p>\n

After separating the sleeves, it was all quite simple once I got going, with a lot of it just straight knitting with some increases and short rows as I got to the bottom. \u00a0Having knitted so many Dreambirds<\/a> lately,\u00a0\u00a0I am a total pro at short rows by now!<\/p>\n

The colors worked out exactly the way I imagined and they look great!<\/p>\n

The length worked out\u00a0wonderfully\u00a0and the Stone Washed<\/a> yarn is perfect, it’s just so darn perfect for this project I could squeal. \u00a0As I mentioned before, I very nearly chose another yarn for this which felt nice but didn’t quite have the colors I wanted, so I almost did it in navy, light blue and pink. \u00a0I’m glad I held out in the end and waited for that perfect combination, because I’m so in love with this.<\/p>\n

Look at that sea of stitches\u00a0as I was knitting and the slight halo on the yarn, that soft fluff that adds the major squoosh factor? \u00a0 I really think they should make squoosh a proper knitting term, because don’t we all look for it at the end of the day?<\/p>\n

I love the added touch of the slip stitch pattern at the bottom. It adds another dimension to the cardigan without making it too busy. \u00a0Plus, it switched things up a bit after all of the stockinette knitting that went into the body.<\/p>\n

I still have the pockets, sleeves and neckline left to do and the only part I’m really concerned about is the pockets, I’ve never done pockets before. \u00a0I’m sure once I get into it it will all fall into place, like most things do when you are working on something new, but I’m still saving it for last!<\/p>\n

I’ve decided that I’m going to change the pattern for the sleeves in the same way that I’ve seen a lot of others on Ravelry have done. \u00a0The sleeves are made up of different sections with one colored section being done in he same slip stitch pattern as the bottom band. \u00a0It’s meant to sit on the upper arm but I’ve seen a lot of people change that part to fall at the elbow instead and I like that a lot better, so I’m going to do that.<\/p>\n

So far, so good… no, so GREAT! \u00a0This is probably my favorite project yet. \u00a0Something that I’m pretty sure I got the fit right (which has been a problem in the past) and that I think I’ll actually wear quite a lot. \u00a0Now, I just need to get it finished. \u00a0Stay tuned!<\/p>\n
