Where Are The Search Parties?

I think I remember saying quite a while ago that if I disappear to send out search parties.. where the hell are they? .. and here I thought you people cared about me!

This is probably the biggest gap I’ve ever had in my blogging but every time I thought about writing one I went “Meh.. I’ll do it later”. That’s pretty much a common theme with me with almost everything in my life. Dishes, dusting, school, blogging .. hell, it’s a good thing breathing comes naturally or I’d be fucked.

So I had my 30th Birthday and it was pretty disappointing. Not disappointing because I didn’t get gifts or do anything, that wasn’t the case at all.. I had a great birthday in that respect. I figured ok tomorrow I’m going to be 30 years old. Then I’ll officially be a grown up and the world will all look different to me and everything would make sense. You know, like I’d have all this insight suddenly and magically know all about things I didn’t know before. At the very least I expected that I’d wake up and have some sort of feeling of dread now that my 20’s are over. Aren’t all women supposed to freak out and think their life is over when they hit the big 3-0?

Anyhow, I woke up the next day and nothing was different. I woke up, looked around, checked myself out in the mirror and though “Hrmm, this isn’t right.. I’m still the same immature shit I was yesterday!”.

Oh well, I guess I’ll just have to wait and see if it works at 40!

On May 12th Xander and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary. The day was filled with comments like “Five years ago at this time we were … ” and “Can you believe that it’s been 5 years already?!”. We didn’t really do a lot, we already spent our anniversary money on tickets to see Dralion by the Cirque Du Soliel in June!! We got fantastic seats and we’re really excited about it.

This past weekend I had another petsitting gig in Den Haag. I got to spend another weekend getting paid to cuddle with Gus and Ike, which is hardly a task. They are the sweetest dogs I’ve ever seen (except for Bailey of course). I’m sort of sad because their owners will be moving back to the states this summer and I’ll never see them again probably. Ah well, I guess that’s all part of the territory.

Xander’s mother is here with us for a week. She arrived on Sunday evening and will be leaving Saturday afternoon. We’ve had a really good time so far, she even brought me up some clothes that she bought for me in France! Not the type of thing I’d buy for myself, which is great because I could use something other than jeans and t-shirts / sweaters. It’s great having her here.. I was sort of nervous before she came, I mean she is my mother-in-law afterall. She is so easy to have around though and we have such a great laugh together.

Today she is going to help us get some painting done here. She’s been giving lots of suggestions on things we should do for our renovations and it makes a lot of sense. She’s come up with a few things that we probably wouldn’t have come up with on our own. She also agreed that we shouldn’t put wooden floors in the livingroom and diningroom, which I’d been going back and forth on for weeks. We’re just going to keep the beige-ish colored tiles we have here now.

This is only the 2nd time I’ve met her since Xander and I have been together, but this time is much different and it feels awesome. I think we’re going to be seeing a lot more of each other now, and Xander and I will probably go down and visit her sometime in the near future.

World of Warcraft is fantastic! I’m not playing it at the moment because we have company but it’s a great game and VERY addictive! I don’t have time to write a lot about it now but here are some screenshots of my WoW newbie!

That’s all the screenshots I have so far, but I do have some hilarious video of this guy dancing in game. Apparently humans dance like John Travolta in Sat Night Fever. When I have more time I’ll put the video up here too but for now I must go paint!

  1. Yeah I just went there yesterday after an “OH SHIT!” moment where I realized I forgot.

Sucks too because I was ahead and I had the Q, U, and blank! ARGGH! *Smacks forehead*

  2. This search party needed a search party! I went MIA since I got to Vancouver!

Our Scrabble game’s been deleted ‘cuz you took more than a week to take your turn :P

  3. I wondered why you hadn’t posted for awhile… Happy belated!

  4. So… I fell on the MMOG bandwagon as well… but I decided to give Guild Wars a try. Mostly because there is no monthly fee and I’m cheap. ;) I’m working on a blog entry about it, but so far my newbie is about to graduate the training/starter missions and move onto the rest of the game. Heh.
