*Yawn*

Tired today even though I slept in until 9am, which is about 3.5 hours later than usual. Of course, we went to bed quite a bit later last night than we usually do as well. We were joking last night about how we are the ‘old folks’ and wondering when it came to be that we found 1:30am to be late to bed. Hard to believe there was a time in my life when I thought 4am was early to bed.

Last night we were invited to dinner by a classmate of mine. He’s the Kiwi I spoke about previously who joined our class a few months ago. We went over to his place where we met his girlfriend and had some dinner. It was a nice night! He made some really delicious nachos and we sat around chatting and getting to know each other. His girlfriend is very nice and speaks fantastic English. I’m looking forward to getting together with them again, we’ll probably invite them over sometime soon.

Today the chinese lady who used to be in my class is coming by with her husband. It should be interesting considering neither of them speak Dutch and they hardly speak English. She’s really cute and sweet and we’ve been running into her and her husband a few times here and there at the supermarket. So they phoned yesterday asking to get together. I thought they were inviting us to go to their place but it turned out they were inviting themselves here to ours.. or at least that’s what I got from it when they kept saying “your house!”. I have absolutely no idea what we are going to do with them, I really can’t stand trying to entertain people and it’s not like we can go for the old faithful and toss a movie on to pass time, because they wouldn’t be able to understand it. I get the feeling that by 6pm I’m going to have a HUGE headache!

We are popular this weekend for some reason, another one of my classmates (my good friend from California who is Jahova’s Witness and keeps laughing at my blasphemous fuckups when I talk to her) called wanting to get together with us as well, but I was already after making plans 20 mins before with the chinese couple. We’ve been getting more action this weekend than we have in months!

This morning I woke up from a message from my friend Betty* who has a newborn baby girl. She has been really great talking to me all the time and listening to my frustrations about not being pregnant yet. Today I got this message from her:

Betty : okay here is somethin that will make you feel a bit better about this baby thing
Betty : try….. 2am baby wakes up and WON’T go back to sleep. finally after an hour of driving around at 4am baby falls asleep so we get some finally. at 7am the consrtruction wokers start jack hammering something, baby sleeps throught it, we don’t. when she wakes up shes having an off day and is being super bitchy. i’ve cried 3 times today and hubby actually cried too

Wow.. I dunno, suddenly having a baby doesn’t seem so dreamy! haha Not that I ever thought it was but sometimes when you are trying to desperately to get pregnant you forget all these hard times you’ll go through as a new mother. Poor Betty… I really do hope she’s off getting some sleep now.

Sounds like Xander and I will have to get a car before we have a child, I’ve heard from a few people that late night drives are sometimes the key to getting the wee ones to sleep!
