More on Idol

So I watched that massively long episode of Idol last night.  I laughed and cried in all the appropriate spots and fast forwarded loads.  That’s the best part about downloading shows like this, you can watch a 1.5 hour show in about 20 minutes just by skipping the crap… and god is there lots of crap on AI this year.

I know the Idol Gives Back thing is a great idea and I’ll never knock anyone trying to help those poor children in Africa, lord knows they need it… but gah, could they have driven the point home any harder?  I thought I was watching a reality TV show looking for a pop star, not a depressing telethon.   Towards end I was ready to kill myself.  Not just because the children’s stories were depressing but also because of all the hype about the BIG shock that was coming, just to end up with NOBODY being voted off.  WTF!

I was sure it was going to be Melinda being voted off because that would have been the only thing that would have shocked me at all.  She was the first one to be told she was safe though and I spent the rest of the show disbelieving that any of the others would be ‘the biggest shock in American Idol History’.  Idiots.

There is one good thing happening on that show lately.   Did they send Paula Abdul to some kind of 72 hour speed-rehab?  Someone sobered her up big time because she’s been much more bearable over the last 2-3 weeks.  I wonder what the story is there… not that I really care… I’m just happy to see her able to put together an entire sentence again!

This video is my favorite event of the evening.  I mean how could it not be with Hugh Grant doing his little hip jerky thing from Music & Lyrics.

It was a tie between that and Jack Black I think but like most times I can only take him in small doses and I find he tends to take the joke just a tiny bit too far.

Oh and how about that thing with Elvis, that was wicked!!  My birthday is coming up next month, I’m hoping we can get him to come play in my livingroom.

Next week two are getting voted off.   I hope it’s Phil and Chris.

  1. Nice prediction there!

I half lost interest this season when Stephanie Edwards was voted off. I don’t know why.. She wasn’t particularly attractive, I don’t even like that genre of music, and she could sing in key about as well as I can gut a fish without wretching. There was just something about her wailing that grabbed me I suppose.

Perhaps it was the dress she wore when she sang Love Hangover. I HAVE to get the missus one of those!
