Oh..Canada

After almost 11 years living in another country, it still amazes me how deeply I still love Canada.  Especially the east coast.  Nova Scotia is my home, Cape Breton Island holds a piece of my heart and is part of who I am like only another Caper could truly understand…

I’m not at all homesick on Canada Day this year, not even a little bit.  I’m a picture of calm and acceptance.  I am cool personified.

In fact, I didn’t even burst into tears when I heard our national anthem in this video… nor when I saw the dude standing on the rocks at Peggy’s Cove.

Really, I didn’t.  Would I lie to you?

Well, even if I did, it’s not like you can prove it.

Happy Canada Day everyone, especially to all those amazingly friendly, funny and crazy Capers I love so much!  I’ll see you in October!

  1. Even if you live far from the Great White North, you are still Canadian and can belong there again as well!

  2. I love -LOVE- Moments of our Heritage! When I started working at the Museum of Civilization in Ottawa back in ’97, they used to have computers all over with all of them in there. I’ve watched them all at least 50 times, and it was so cool to have the clip start and finish with recreations of two of them!! And yes, I got a bit choked and got goosebumps watching the video. It’s a cool song! It’s like watching the Molson Canadian rant- even after a few years, it’s still damn good!

Now I’m all sad I didn’t do anything for Canada Day yesterday…

  3. Great video! Happy Canada Day, Tammy!! :-)

  4. Happy Canada Day Tammy! Thank you so much for posting this. I absolutely love it and think it’s going to find it’s way onto my blog too. I just *may* have teared up a bit too. Andrew grew up about 2 mins away from Peggy’s Cove and if I had a loonie for every time I’ve stood on those rocks… well I’d be travelling more :) Hope you have a great day and rock that red and white!

    • Peggy’s Cove is my favorite place on the planet. Of all the countries and cities I’ve been in (that makes it sound like a lot more than there actually are I think haha) I still love Peggy’s Cove the best. It’s my zen place.. just sitting on the rocks looking out at the water. Nothing better!

      • I agree! It’s magical. Andrew probably would not agree… lol. He couldn’t wait to get the hell out of there. That and he was scarred for life on tour-buses, of which there are many in summer. His bother and sister both worked at the restaurant there when they were in school. They would probably also not agree with the magical-ness :)

  5. Happy Canada Day!!! Weird celebrating it in another country for yet another year… “celebrating”… not really… I’m in red though!!!

I still get goosebumps when I hear the national anthem. But I refuse to be homesick today!

    • You get to celebrate with a new kitchen! It doesn’t get better than that :) My homesickness isn’t too bad today, I’m busy taking out all my energy cleaning my aquariums.
