Cut Off

While I write this I keep hitting ‘Try Again’ on the time out thing in Firefox hoping that I have an internet connection.

Last night I went to see The Devil Wears Prada with two girlfriends of mine.  The movie was good and I really enjoyed getting out with the girls for the evening.  We had some good eats, good chat and it was good company.

I’m trying to get more social and like every autumn I start trying to line things up to keep me busy because I get nervous about the winter coming.   I know how the dreary winters in the Netherlands affect me and I don’t want to end up staying inside feeling lazy and unmotivated for the entire season.

When I got home, Xander told me that the internet had been down since late in the afternoon.  It’s now 24 hours later and it still isn’t back up yet.

I spent 1 hour and 40 minutes on the line with our provider, between the conversation and the waiting time.  He made me change a load of things and nothing ended up being fixed in the end.  Now they have some bogus recording saying that it’s a problem with some other company they work through.

The good thing about being cut off from the world from the day, which is how I feel when my internet is down, is that I got some more housework done and have finally picked up my quilting again.

Other than that, it blows.  I’m hoping it comes up again soon.

*Edit*  I’m mooching some VERY LOW wireless from some random neighbour.  It’s only 7:46pm and we’re both frustrated from having over 24 hours with no connection.

I hate Demon today (our adsl provider).  Hopefully will be back soon!

  1. I HATE it when my computer is down. I feel like I am missing part of my brain or something when it happens. So glad you got yours back!
Great movie BTW I just saw it on the plane last week coming back from the states, cracked me up.

  2. I am absolutely useless without my internet connection. Although I might get a few things done around the house, I find that I will continuously fret and keep checking back to see when I can be reconnected with the world. Man, I’ve got a big problem, huh?

  3. your blog got my vote for BE-BOTB!

and yeah being “disconnected” to the world bites! tho motivates us to fix the things around us tho what a waste on the phone more than an hour for nothing..

    i’d be hopping back soon..

  4. Like you, I’m not looking forward to Winter weather…and no internet is a bummer.
