My Mini Surgery!

Today I had an appointment at the doctor to have this weird thing that was growing on my belly removed.

It was a rather weird looking thing, just a blob of skin that randomly started growing on my belly a few years ago. I don’t know what caused it but it had gotten bigger over the last 1-2 years. I had to decide whether to get it snipped off or to leave it and maybe it would go away on it’s own.
((Note : The photo isn’t of mine, mine was just LIKE that only MUCH bigger. I forgot to take a ‘before’ pic. My blob totally pwns (gaming lingo still intact!) that blob’s ass, yo!))

Then again, maybe it would continue to grow until I find out that it was the twin that almost was. Like, with teeth and hair and all that shit…

Now that I think about it, if I thought it really would grow into something cool like that I would have left it. Only because I figure some weirdo would pay me to make a documentary on it and I could have gotten famous on the Discovery channel.

I wasn’t thinking that far ahead though and had it removed.

Process: 5-10 minutes
Blob: Gone
Stitches: None
Worst part: The smell of my own burning flesh

After my little mini operation was over, I kept peeking down into my pants wondering what was left under the bandage. Was it really horrendous? I kind of hoped so, since it would make for great blog pics… as long as it didn’t hurt too much. My curiosity was killing me!

I lasted exactly 4 hours and 15 minutes before I was peeling that sucker off so I could have a gander.

Oh yeah… What is it with doctors and the “Does this hurt?” after they give you the needed to freeze a spot. Ok, it’s good of them to want to make sure we are actually numb, but isn’t there a certain time? Like if the crap takes 5 minutes to work, wait 5 minutes and then start poking? I got poked twice today before I stopped feeling it. I think it’s one of the small joys doctors get out of their jobs.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my doctor, she’s awesome… but I’m sure somewhere deep inside she was taking her frustrations about the old cranky fucker who came to see her in the morning out on me.

This is what was laying beneath the bandage… pretty sick looking huh? I wonder if it will leave a scar. I’ve never had surgery before so I have absolutely no idea how this all works. Do small things like this usually leave scars or will it heal normally? What difference is there between having it burned and getting stitches? I’m such a surgery n00b (Ha! Two gamer dude comments in one blog, I still have it!)!

Btw, I pondered not putting this pic on here and just putting a link saying ‘click here if you want to see it’ but like with my doctor and her poking… you are all paying the price for the annoyances others have caused me. If I am not given the choice of whether to listen to people’s loud, obnoxious music when I visit their blogs then nobody will have a choice whether to look at the charred pit that once held my belly blob!

Don’t blame me, blame them!

  1. i had something like that like 10 years ago… at first they just took the top off then had to go back and dig into me and rip more flesh out… it sucked but was so long ago that its not worth caring about.

  2. Oh help! I looked because it was an essential part of the post, but I just can’t stand pics like that

    * thump – fainted *

    Hope it feels better soon!

  3. Oh my goodness, that is quite the hole!

I’m impressed that you actually had the guts to get rid of it. Whenever things like that happen to me, I usually just pretend they’re not there. I’m not big on pain. :S
