Ginger

Last night my husband took me on a date to see The Bourne Supremacy, it was awesome! I had my doubts that it would be as good as the previous Bourne movie but it was just as good. There was a lot of action, drama and suspense. One thing happens near the beginning that I wasn’t expecting but that just made the movie even better. I love when they give me the unexpected!

Today Xander and I had our appointment with the specialist to see about why we aren’t getting pregnant. It was embarassing, funny and scary all at the same time. The doctor turned out to be this young guy, he couldn’t have been older than 27. That was fine until I found out I’d actully be getting examined today! EEEEK! I mean he may be a doctor but he’s still a guy that is almost my age. It was VERY VERY weird laying there in those friggin’ stirrups baring it all to this guy. I just remember saying “Oh gawd, if you have to be a guy you could have at least been an old one!” He was good about it though, I got to see my insides on this little screen, that distracted me enough to almost forget what was going on.

As it turns out my ovaries have too many eggs, which leads them to believe it’s not releasing them for ovulation. Hence, no babies. He said he suspects that I have something called Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. He said because I didn’t have some of the more regular symptoms (irregular cycles, extreme hairyness, sudden weight gain, diabetes) and only appeared to have this problem with too many eggs that it may not be PCOS at all. It’s possible that it’s just some kind of hormonal thing. Anyhow I have to go for bloodwork twice over the next couple of weeks for them to check my hormone levels and what the situation is.

Xander and I had one moment where we both burst out laughing when the doctor was talking about ovary problem and Xander chuckled and said I had a “lazy ovary”. We’d just been watching Sex and the City the night before. It was the episode where Miranda found out she had a lazy ovary and started panicking that she’d never have kids. She went on a dating spree, hooking up with all these losers she’d turned down before. When Xander said that we both started laughing and I’m sure the doctor thought we were crazy. It was a nice moment because in the middle of it all I realized that no matter what goes wrong Xander and I will always have each other. The fact that we could both just end up laughing when the doc was telling me about this problem I have… well, it was reassuring.

Xander got to take a cup on a date to the bathroom, and he was a pretty good sport about it. He was as red as a beet when he came out, it was pretty cute. Here’s hoping his swimmers are speeding around that dish so fast they can hardly see them to count!

Tonight I got a message from Carolyn, a girl I know in Amsterdam who does dogsitting and dogwalking. A client of hers referred a man to her who needed someone to sit for him for 5 days. She wasn’t able to do it so she referred me (which I thought was really cool) he called here this evening and I admit I was nervous after the fiasco with the Scottish Psycopath in Heemstede. I figured like anything else ya gotta get right back on the horse, so I agreed to take the gig. He agreed to pay upfront and travel expenses as well so that makes it a lot easier for me.

He lives in the middle of Amsterdam and has a 5 month old Staffordshire Terrier named Ginger. I can’t wait to see her! They have dialup internet at their place so I’ll be able to log on for a little while each day. Thank GOD! I’m terrible, one of the first things I asked is if they have internet access at their house!

Cross your fingers for me everyone!! Pray for me that this gig is better than the last one!
