The Little Auction That… Couldn’t.

So I’ve been setting things up to unload my WoW account while it might still be worth something. I was told by a friend to look at Playerauctions.com and I’ve been struggling with it for days. First it wouldn’t let me register, then when I finally was registered (only after sending in a ticket) I tried to post my account for auction and it told me I couldn’t do so because I don’t have a credit card set up. I clicked the thing for the credit card but there is nowhere to enter it and no matter what you click it takes you back to where you enter the auction info! *bangs head on keyboard*

So I decided to go to the “Seller’s FAQ” to find out what the heck to do, but that page doesn’t work and gives me some wonky error. I can’t post an auction because I don’t have a CC set up, I can’t set up my CC because the page to do it doesn’t work, and I can’t figure out what to do because the FAQ page doesn’t work either!

Apparently this site is pretty popular and a lot of people use it for their gaming needs, but I’ll be damned if it’ll work for me.

I sent them the following email in a huff:

I was forwarded to Playerauctions.com by a friend because I want to sell my WoW account and since I’ve signed up it’s been nothing but hassles.

First, I had to wait days and days before I could register.

Now that I am registered, I’m not able to post my auction because I don’t have a credit card set up.

So I go to set up a credit card and put in my personal information, click next and are sent back to the BIDS page!

How on earth do you set up a credit card on this site and why should I trust that your site is safe and secure when most of the links appear to not work properly and it’s this difficult just to get registered? How do I know that my personal info, credit card info and account info is being protected when you don’t even seem capable of maintaining a site that works?!

I’d really like some answers before I go through with anything on your site. I have changed all of my personal info to fake info on my account until I get some answers.

Thanks..

I ended up just saying fuck it and closed my account with them. I honestly have no faith in a website that seems to have so little awareness of what is going on with their own site, but claim to be keeping your home address, phone number and credit card info secure. Yeah right.

So then I went to sign up for Ebay… I initially didn’t want to because the prices seem lower on there for WoW accounts than on the Playerauctions website (an account on par with mine goes for approximately $600 on the PA website, but only $450 or so on Ebay) I guess Ebay visitors are just cheapos. I don’t have a lot of choice though, seeing as I’d just given playerauctions the heave-ho.

When on the registration page it asks for your country, I cringed… winced… and clicked Netherlands. I shouldn’t have opened my eyes again because just as I had feared, the entire site changed to Dutch with no option to switch back to English.

*Back* … *Back* … I clicked, to get back to the point where Ebay still made sense to me and I cleverly changed my info from my real NL address to my former address in Canada at my parents’ house.

Then Firefox crashed on me.

I’m starting to think I’m not meant to sell this account.
