Nine Years and Still Kickin’!

Bus

This photo of me and my  husband was taken almost 9 years ago in Paris.  We felt so grown up but look at us, we were babies!  I’d just turned 25 the week before and I was a wife!   We were so cute though, still in that stage where we called each other Mr. and Mrs. and giggled every time we said husband or wife.

I loved Xander so much back then and I really believed that it was impossible for me to love him any more than I did at that moment.  We were newlyweds for petes sake, and that’s how they all feel I suppose… but I had no idea how much my feelings for him would grow over the years.

I am so proud to be his wife.   He is funny, smart, thoughtful, kind and I know that in spite of my many many flaws, he loves me too.  I know that because he shows it in a million little ways every day.  He makes me feel loved and even when I am being a complete moron he understands me and helps me figure out where I went wrong.  He helps me be a better person and I love him for that.

Moving to the Netherlands, leaving everything else I knew and loved behind and fighting to make a new life for myself has not been an easy task, and if he were any other man on earth I’m not sure it would be worth it.  HE is worth it though and I’d do it all over again if I had to, because no matter how many times I’ve imagined how great life could be back in Canada I know that without him, it just wouldn’t be the same.

Plus, he makes a mean Peach Chicken and is making it for me as we speak.  Yes, I know… all that AND he can cook too!  I think I’ll keep him.

  3. Gefeliciteerd met je 9 jarig jubileum!!

It’s comforting to hear you say that despite dreaming of a better life back in Canada you’d still rather be here with Xander.

I often think all my problems would be solved if I just moved back home.. but without my Dutchie it just wouldn’t work.

Do you guys think about moving to Canada someday, or is there just too many roots here in NL?

  4. Such a cute picture. I’m really happy for you both.
