Adventures in Postcrossing

Ages ago a friend told me about a website called Postcrossing, and I meant to join… but like most things I say I’m going to do, I never got around to it.    I recently came across it again and decided to give it a go.  I mean I love getting snail mail!  Nowadays all we get are bills and bullshit in our mailbox so it makes for a nice change to have something to look forward to when I check it every day!

I have received three so far!  Two from Germany and one from Finland.

This one one was especially cute because they saw here on my website that I like turtles so they had little turtles all stuck to the back of the postcard as well!  Sweet!

The way it works is, you sign up for the website and request up to 5 addresses. You are then given the mailing info for the requests you’ve made, along with a code to add to the card.

When they receive the cards, they go to the website and register it using the code you supplied and then your info goes into the database for someone else to get when they request one.

So far I’ve sent cards to Germany, Switzerland, Japan, Georgia (US) and Finland.   I just requested two more addresses and will soon be sending off postcards to Taiwan and China as well!

I can’t wait to see where my next one is going to come from!
