Spring Sundry Shawl (WIP)

In my previous post about my Squishy Soft Fun Denim Shawl I had mentioned that I went for colors that are not really my norm this time around.  I wasn’t sure why, but I just really wanted to do something in pink. The other day it dawned on me where that inspiration came from and what was pulling me towards pink so much.  It was this!

It’s spring in the Netherlands, and that means pink blossoms everywhere.  No wonder I had my mind stuck on pink this entire time!  It was all the signs of spring popping up all around me that gave me the urge for something different, soft and sweet…  I think this fits the bill, hence the new project name!

So, now you can see a little more of the pattern!  It’s the houndstooth section that pulled me in when I saw it.  Well, that and the fact that I knew it would be a nice and relaxed project for me to work on for a while.  Easy TV knitting!

Spring Sundry Shawl

The Sundry Shawl is a design by Jennifer Dassau.  It is made up of three sections of two different colors that meet in the middle in a lovely houndstooth pattern.  Here are some photos from the author’s Ravelry page so you can see the shawl in its finished form.

They grey portion in the above photos s what I have completed in the pink, and I am currently working through the middle section.  Once that is finished, I will pretty much just continue on with the pattern in the grey until I feel it is the size I want it.

I love, love, love the look of the pattern in the middle and how the colors come together.  There were a few times when I was watching TV and slipped a stitch I should have knitted or knitted one I should have slipped, which threw the entire pattern off, but it’s so easy to go back and fix that I didn’t even care.

I think this is going to be a lovely shawl once it’s finished.  It’s not difficult, it’s not crazy intricate but it still looks really lovely. I probably could have used a size smaller needle, but I wanted it to be rather loose and pliable.  It feels just the way I wanted to, so I’m glad I didn’t go down and create a tighter stitch.

Just to give an idea of size so far, here it is on Susan Lucci.

Spring Sundry Shawl

I’ve been a bit distracted over the last little while, as I’ve been having a go at spinning yarn and have become quite obsessed with it, but I hope to finish this shawl within the next week or so.  I will have more on it then!

In the meantime, here’s some info for if you would like to give it a go yourself!
