South of France in Springtime

Ok, I am trying to blog from my tablet for the first time so bear with me and please forgive any typos!  I am on holiday atm and left my laptop home, since I have a snazzy new Galaxy Tab Pro tablet!

Early Friday morning my husband and I packed up and headed off for the south of France.  We are spending a few weeks down here enjoying the company of my in-laws, the peaceful surroundings and the beautiful weather.

This was the first time that we were able to drive down all in one go, because I was able to drive too!  Mental note, Tammy, do the rest 101 List update about getting your license!

We have been here for three days now and we can already feel ourselves relaxing more and more.

The weather has been beautiful so far, with temps pushing 30 degrees and going higher into the low to mid 30’s over the next few days. In the mornings I just go out and look around and take in the nature.  Such a stark contrast to what greets me in Rotterdam.  This is also the first time we have visited in the spring rather than early fall.  The temps are the same but everything is so much greener now,  as you can see in the above photo taken in front of my in-laws house.  The gardens are so lush and green this time of year!

The morning after we arrived we got up early to visit the market in Lodeve. We have been a number of times over the years and I always enjoy it.  So much yummy food, like amazing cheese and sausages, plus a stand with really great handbags and some nice clothing stands. We are going back next weekend where I plan to spend a bit more time trying on some nice summer dresses. I was most happy to find some knee length leggings for only 5 euro! I have searched all over Rotterdam and the shortest I could find was below the knee. Oh these darn thighs! That is another story for another day, though. The thighs, I mean.

Sunday and Monday were spent relaxing and winding down. I have spent my time reading, listening to audiobooks while knitting, swimming and basking in the sun.

Xander has also been enjoying himself, doing what he loves most (sleeping), reading, and hanging out in his new favorite spot, the hammock!

I think he has decided to take a photo every day showing another view of the yard from the hammock!

Today will be another scorcher, spent running a few errands in the morning followed by some instructions on dog and garden care as Xander’s dad and Jenny will be leaving us on Thursday to go spend a few days in Rome. Then, of course, more swimming and slug like behavior.

Wednesday we are off with Xander’s mom to the Roquefort caves to see how the cheese is made. We have wanted to visit in other years but since we usually get here in September we are often too late, so we are hoping to be just in time for all that smelly mold this year!

As usual we are absolutely loving it down here. More updates soon!
